I see now that I have a block on me to prevent me from seeing and/or answering questions. I can see all the questions, but when I click on one to "see" it, I can't, I am blocked. Have I said anything to any one that has offended them? If I have, let me know what it was. I don't mean to make anyone mad at me, nor do I want to hurt any ones feelings. If I have offended someone, I am so sorry.

Are there any grants or help available for replacement central heating boilers for old age pensioners. We live in Aberdenshire Scotland.
The only income is the state pension and a small private pension with very little savings.

It is ta announce that my Laird MacTealc has at last summoned all that kept his sporran stiff and made me an honest woman! He has bestowed upon me his name and his title and all that he holds dear under his kilt!
He would have been the one to impart this news to you but for the fact that the hunter is hunted - and no sooner would his post be here - than it would be gone. So he begs that you join him and I in lifting a glass to the friends and our virtual family who have been so significant in the oft rough run course of our union! Too many names to mention - but all of you fed and tended our imaginations that led to this moment.
We will be leaving to live in a new place - far from the unhappy souls that have caused such vexation to all our spirits - should you wish to join us - our new home has many rooms - please show your interest and we will be happy to invite you to join us ................ in a wee while. For MacTealc has business to attend to first!!

I have three teenage grand daughters, and last year bought the middle one a digital radio. She is 15 and has recently discovered BBC Radio 7 and Tony Hancock. She is completely hooked, just as I was at her age, and now her sisters are listening too.

Does anyone else have younger family members with unlikely enthusiasms ?

Am I old enough to yell at the kids and their darned music? Is dressing in a too small robe and boxers now acceptable? How many days should I go without shaving before it changes from grubby old man to distinguished bearded gentleman? Happy Thanksgiving!

Did you all know that schools throw out pounds of good food every day. It is so sad to see all the food that is left over throw out in the garbage each and every day. The schools have a policy that prohibits any one from taking any of the food home or giving it away to anyone. They would rather throw the good food in the garbage than give it to someone that could use it. I have seen steak fingers, pig in the blankets, turkey, ham, green beans, corn, sandwiches, dressing, whole cakes, brownies, cookies, etc. get throw in the trash. I am talking about gallons of good food being thrown out each day.

I think of all the people out there that are straving when I see all that food being thrown out. I was always taught NOT to waste food when I was growing up. Then I see the schools wasting all that good food. I think it is really sad.

I didn't know she was sick; she didn't even tell my daughter. We've butted heads over the years since her son (my first husband) died, especially after I remarried. She always gave her granddaughter (my daughter with her son) more presents at Christmas, for example. She always criticized my other husbands (I remarried twice, and okay maybe they weren't great choices) and continued to talk badly about the last one, who I remain friends with. We had a final falling out when she asked for a ring belonging to her son, and I said no. It's all I have of his.

When my daughter told me she had died, I felt nothing at first. Then I felt like crying. Then I felt angry, mostly confused, not knowing how to feel. I woke up this morning wishing we had ironed out our differences, even though I had tried when she was alive. No chance to do that now. I cried my eyes out in the shower. I still don't know how to feel. Her son was an awesome person, so I know she raised him well & I admire her for that.

It's not a "custard"...it's more like egg nog without the nutmeg etc....and it's thicker. You drink it (with vanilla flavoring or some of the "good stuff" in it). My mother used to always make a big punch bowl of it every holiday. I think it's milk, eggs, sugar..boiled in a double boiler for a long time. Do any of you have the recipe to share??Thanks.

A drunken man staggers in to a Catholic church and wanders over to the confessional box. He opens the door, sits down and says nothing. The bewildered priest waits for a few minutes, allowing the drunken man some time to collect his thoughts. Growing impatient, the priest coughs to attract his attention, but still the man says nothing. The priest then knocks on the wall three times in a final attempt to get the man to speak.

Finally, the drunk replies: "No use knockin' mate, there's no paper in this one either."

Do you know someone who might appreciate the joke above?

Last one of the night. I'm thankful for my new found friends here on Y/A. I'm very satisfied.

I mean, if it really is Friday, why would anybody need to pretend its Friday by dining at 'Friday's'? Isn't that the idea behind 'Friday's' restaurants: for everybody to dine at one of their cafes on other weekdays likeTuesdays or Wednsdays or Mondays, especially Mondays, and pretend that its Friday, since, by dining at 'Friday's', you will feel like its Friday. But if it really is Friday......, well, you know what I mean.
Is this not a question for all ages?

I also wonder about Saturdays. Why should anyone feel the need to dine at 'Friday's' on Saturday? Sundays, I can understand. Its all quite baffling, isn't it?

Could you PLEASE take a moment today? to say a prayer for one of my dearest friends, who found out just today that he has inoperable cancer. He is 70 years old and is planning to marry in January... His wife to be, is my best friend... God love her...she has nursed several people through the awful throws of cancer, the treatments, surgery's, and the slow deaths of her loved ones. How she lives through all this I will never know... and once again, at what should be a happy time, life has thrown her another painful and deadly curve ball... They are not going to share this information with anyone... I'm thinking they do not want to ruin any ones holidays, or the upcoming wedding... can you imagine... My heart is broken, she will need all the strength she can muster to get through this, as will he... so please say a prayer for these two wonderful people that you will never know... I promised I would not share it with anyone...but I know the power of our prayers can work miracles...

A workman is doing work inside a church. He sees a little old Italian lady get down in front of a statue of Mary and start to pray.

The workman decides to have a little fun. He gets behind the statue of Jesus and loudly says, "Woman, get off your kness. Don't pray to her, pray to me!"

The little old Italian lady looks up at the statue of Jesus and says, "Shutup your mouth, I'm talking to your mother!"
