I used to do huge dinners for family and friends for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, where I did all or most
of the food buying, table setting, cooking, and cleaning up.
For the last few years I have been the guest. What a change. Actually, I could do either, but the older I get, the
more I like being the guest. We are eating our Thanksgiving
out this year. I don't miss the cooking. Happy Thanksgiving,
Wickwire to you and your boy.

When I was young I enjoyed being the hostess. Even tho it
was alot of work and stress. Now that I'm not able to be on
my feet long, hubby has completely taken over instead of
sharing the cooking as we used to do after he retired. Now
I will be on hand to offer help or just stay out of his way while
he 'creates' LOL. He tends to get very nervous when he is
cooking. Well just so long as he doesn't have gravy splatters
on the kitchen cupboards or mashed potatoes in his hair LOL. I think I can manage him OK. He doesn't have his dinner
all planned out as I always did tho. Hopefully it will all come
together without raising anyones' blood pressure. It would
be a special day if it would be in harmony as it's intended.

Host by far...except it carries a serious price, and that is just the food! Have you been to the grocery store lately? YOu would think you were buying gasoline! IF maid's day was not Friday morning, I would go out to eat and leave it at that...but as it is, the maids come in, sign very loudly when surveying the damage, then set about to clean up the mess (I do tip them well, I will have to admit). Most people are more comfortable in my house than they are in their own...at least it would seem so..they are always over here. Funny, I get invited to perhaps one event per year, yet it is open house here 365! What 's with this crap? I am begining to think I am being played. Goldwing (and yes, the other night or so, that diatribe answer from "troll chaser" did sound familiar, didn't it? :-) My evil twin brother was here!
You and your son come on over..but either black or white...none of these loud colors, please..promise you will have a great time...most do here. And those who don't get stoned in the front yard...the others are busy getting stoned in the back yard :-)

I was the hostess for so many years that it is nice to just be
" company " once in awhile. Of course I will be taking several dishes of my kids favorite food with me when I go tomorrow.
Wick, you and your sweet little boy just be here around 11:00
and we'll head over to Angela ( my daughter) and Sonny's. The rest of the fam will be showing up around the same time. You need not bring anything as we will have more than enough food. I'll take some plastic bowls that we will send some leftovers home with you in. Just enjoy yourself Wickwire.

I used to be the hostess. I cooked and baked for three or four days ahead of time. Usually had from fifteen to twenty five for dinner. I loved it, but am done with it now. I am the guest. I bring a dish or two and will help in the kitchen, but that's it.

Actually, there's no preference there. I enjoy both.
In the last two years, I have enjoyed being "Company". That's something I had never done before. It's quite amazing to see how others do things on holidays. I always bring something to add to the festivities, a dish or homemade rolls, just a little something to lighten their load a bit. This adds to my personal joy on the day and I hope to their's as well.

I prefer to be the hostess. I've done it for so long and so often that I get a bit fidgety being the guest, but tomorrow I'm 'giving it a whirl'. Will let ya'll know how it turns out!
Happy Thanksgiving!

The Host... I almost don't know how to be the guest... to many years in the Military trying to make every ones holidays the best we could make it... It was challenging to say the least to be in foreign countries that do not have the same holidays we Americans do... And we catered to all members of our Military families, young and old a like.... Very rewarding to be of service to so many... that is why they named me Scooter... I was always so very busy and never slowed down... I just wanted things to be perfect... never leave an empty plate or glass anywhere... things had to be beautiful!!!

I prefer to be company. I'm not a good cook and I don't have the room to entertain a lot of people. I do know how to be a good guest though.

I prefer to be the guest of a 1st class restaurant with the family. I think T-day is also a family gathering type of Holiday. But, anyone subjected to kitchen duty should be paid double-time, and he/she who subjected him/her should join the turkey in the oven. This obviously is my feminine side talking, but then she makes me do all the cooking.
