Last one of the night. I'm thankful for my new found friends here on Y/A. I'm very satisfied.
"You say, 'If I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.' You make a mistake. If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled."

GW: If I ever saw you wearing something other than that black tank top, I'd never recognize you.

Eve: Thanks for asking, my mother used to make us dress up before company arrived, we hated it. Looking back at the pictures, everyone came dressed in their best. The pro is some nice family pictures. Now just our kids dress in their best, we keep it nice but not our nicest. That's a bit of a bummer on our part. Mom would frown if she were still alive.

Not any more I don't. I just wear what ever is comfortable. Back when we were going to grandma's, I did wear my good clothes.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your son.

We won't dress up this year; we are headed to a local park where we've rented a covered pavillion. So, I'll be wearing jeans; however, I did buy a new blouse...;)
Our extended family has outgrown grandma's house and great-grandma's house.
We'll heat my giblet gravy on our camp stove; tape plastic table cloths on the picnic tables, lay out a buffet line, try to pull the children off the playground long enough to eat, and try to corral 22 people to all sit down and eat at the same time.
Happy Thanksgiving, Wickwire.

WE dress very formally...I wear my black nylon running pants with a black tank top and black sneakers. Others in the house carry it further and go all white! Talk about over the top! White tee shirts, white pants, white sneakers....too much! I really think that black tank top is more than enough.
And I am glad we found you...you are a fun guy, come across as a very serious thinker, but I suspect a softie inside. You were caught deat to rights last night or the night before with the "I wuv you " from your child! Gotcha! Phil

Nice thought. Haven't dressed up for anything since I retired. I'm the chief cook and am wearing my less than fashionable sweat suit. Dinner for 15 at 2 p.m. Happy thanksgiving to all and drink a toast to the cooks.

When I was young we dressed in our Sunday best. As a new family I also dressed my child in their Sunday best. As my kids got older and made their own decisions that tradition changed and it is very casual now. I think I liked the old ways.
Wickwire no truer setiment.I liked it. Have a good night. Sleep well. Don't let the bed bugs bite.

Normally dress up a little, but we've started doing Thanksgiving over at my son's and weather permitting, we all eat outside. Lots of fun and people all over the place! Really think I'm going for comfort tomorrow and it will be my favorite pair of jeans. (Although I just know that waistband will be killing me shortly after all the eating I plan to do!)
Whatever your plans are, I hope that you and your son have a wonderful day. Take care and Happy Thanksgiving, Wick'!

Happy Thanksgiving to you. I always enjoy your questions and comments.
I used to dress up, but now I always go to a friends place, meet up with others friends there and cook together. She keeps her place very warm. This year I am wearing the coolest clothes I can put on. I hate to always go home early because I am so miserably hot. We usually play cards and various other games after dinner. I don't want to miss all the fun.

It's always been a tradition for my husband and I to dress for
the three holidays each year. Easter, Thanksgiving, and for
Christmas Eve and Day. It was a carry over from my upbring-
ing. My children never wanted to dress up after they were
older, and so I didn't push them. But they didn't dress in
play clothes either. Our daughter still doesn't on Chr. Eve, but
she does a bit for Christmas Day since she goes to her in
laws. And I know our son doesn't, since he doesn't observe
any holiday due to his religious beliefs. Well at least, he gets
an extra day off to lay around if he chooses.
If my hubby dresses up again, being he's cooking this year,
I will have to look for one of his aprons to tie around him. He's
a bad hand wiper on anything that's handy.LOL So wearing anapron (like a barbeque apron) will be a necessity I think.

No dress up and thanks for the quote. It's true to most not to ever be satisfied with what life has blest them with. I just spent the past year downsizing from a house to a small room at my daughter's and that was a humbling experience to realize I had such excess. Those who received from that are grateful and I am too because it simplified my life even more. Blessings and best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your son.

Yes, but mainly because we go out to eat. I'd really rather it was like Norman Rockwell's Saturday Evening Post covers, and be all decked out in overalls, watching one of the early 60s Texas v Texas A&M football games. Ahhhh. So much for the past.

I grew up in the 60s when families dressed up and went to gramma's for the holidays.
We slid out of that but I'm bringing it back to my household.
It's a nice tradition because it makes family get togethers a little more special.
