The Commonwelth Games are an Olympic-like festival of sports, but with only 68 countries taking part, 4 of which form the United Kingdom, 3 of which are islands of England (Guernsey, Isle of Man) & 6 are non-nations like Bermuda, Hong Kong & the Cayman Islands.
The event attracts 98% of the TV audience size in the UK, Ireland, Malaysia, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Pakistan, .... that the Olympics do. I believe there are similar Games for other former Empires too. The Commonwelath is also a friendship & cooperation society for economic, social, cultural and political matters. Do you think the US should A have a festival of US states' teams to match this, B join the Commonwealth, C, ignore the whole thing, or D allow individual US states to join the Commonwelath & submit individual teams if their governors & legislators so choose?

I was wondering if there is anyone on this planet that has become so jaded by poeple in general, that you really enjoy just being by yourself. I've noticed that most of the times, I try so hard to be friends with people, and yet, they never cease to fail me or let me down. I've come to the conclusion that the best way to be is "by yourself". Any feedback on this?

Please don't get the wrong idea....I am pro-Indian. The basis for my question is that the term "Indian Giver" once referred to that government's practice of giving land to the Indians and then taking it away. Now most people think it means that Indians give things and then take them away. Given this twist in meaning, I'm just wondering how many Yahooers consider the term to be racist.

I'm thinking about going to India for a few months to live. I don't know where exactly I want to go, I have to look into it in much, much more depth. Currently I am in college and working on two degrees, Religious Studies and Cultural Anthropology, focusing mostly on South Asia.

But I'd like to know from people who actually live there or grew up in India, what is the cost of living? And also how accepting are people typically of Americans? I'm not a stereotype, I swear!

I'm Finnish, have blue eyes and brown hair. I just realized yesterday that even though I'm "white," my Italian and Greek friends are also white yet they are so much darker and brown eyes. It's just kinda broad in my opinon the word "caucasian." What do you guys think?

Your friend/aquaintance/stranger never names someone by their race but always says "that guy" "that girl"?

Ok for example instead like some people she doesn't say "That mexican Brian talked to me last night whoa he's hot."
Instead she says "That guy Brian talked to me last night, whoa he is really hot!"


She never mentions their race or culture unless she needs to identify them upon request legally or medically by a doc or a cop.

Does anyone else do this or is she alone?

By the way she's me. and I'm white but who cares what race I am. =)

Yeah, okay so there's alot of questions like this and alot of people out there that ask the same old question, but seriously. Who can agree with me that most (I'm not going to say all.) white folks are very evil when it comes to racial issues. YES!
