As for me, I had this one girl who sat in class with me for the longest keep asking if I was Portuguese, and I would tell her no over and over, lol. I've also been mistaken for Spanish, Greek, Lebonese, Persian, Colombian, Puerto Rican, and lots of other things, when I am actually Brazilian/Italian/English.

Were ancient Egyptians black or white? What do you believe? In class we had a professor from Egypt speak who said that they were black african. What I want to know is, is why everytime you turn on the television do you see white actors portraying Egytians? lol I think its hilarious. It's like having an African American play a Julius Caesar. :) What do you guys think about that??

The reason I ask , is that some of the black students in the class were really offended and said that us whites are always trying to take credit for everything. I believe that alot of things are "whitewashed", but what can we do about that? I think yeah sometimes we do take credit for a lot of things, but not all things.

I'm very interested in the possible existence of true matriarcial cultures and from what I've researched and what I feel to be a logical progression of history I beleive they did exist. However, according to anthropologists and archaeologist there seems to be quite a bit of skepticism despite clear indications of goddess worship and mother right in ancient cultures. I would really like to delve into this question and take in a wide variety of information from both sides to make an informed decision. Does anyone have a book they can reccomend, from either viewpoint, that I can read?

We have all heard racial stereotypes, rather we believe them or not. I am just curious to know all the different ones that are out there about different races, and if people actually believe them or not.

I am a black woman, and personally, I think it's ridiculous to judge a whole race of people by the actions of a handful of people of that race, but to each its own.

I don't hate any race, but why is it o.k. for a network to have all black shows, all women shows, all latin shows focusing on the fact that all the people in the show are black, latin, women etc. When they show a white guy in the show, then he is the idiot. Or the white dad who is so dumb that he can't even tie his own shoes. There are people who feel that God isn't male because that would make God less of a God if his is a male. Or God is not white because that would make him a sub-standard god. White men are supposed to judge all people as idndividuals but white men are always being judged as a group.
What makes it o.k. to do this only to one specific group. Is it some kind of revenge for what people think white men have done in the past. So they are just getting back at us for things that we never did (as individuals) to them?

I've noticed that in gay couples that are well publicized such as those involved Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, Melissa Etheridge etc..., one partner (usually the celebrity) assumes the masculine role and dresses and acts in that fashion whereas the other partner would assume a feminine role and dresses and acts accordingly. Why is that so? If people preferred to be romantically involved with people of the same sex as they were, why did one partner in the relationship had to assume the role of the opposite gender?

That does not make any sense to me. I'm not against gay people but I just cannot figure it out.

When I visited Asia, I saw vegetarians there eat vegetable-based food that were made to look like meat or fish, complete with textures and cocoring affects. I ask them if they were committed vegetarians why couldn't they be happy with eating vegetables that look like vegetables. Why did they have to eat vegetable products that were made to look like meat or fish?
