Because people see celebrities as "not having a care in the world" because they are rich and famous, so it probably makes some people feel good to know that even though they have all that money, their personal lives can be just as screwed up as the average person!

Because celebs lives are much more interesting than our own lives. Celebs are rich and famous and people are fascinated with that type of stuff. The issues that affect our own lives are DEPRESSING. We get enough depressing stuff from those damned news channels..
