I don't hate any race, but why is it o.k. for a network to have all black shows, all women shows, all latin shows focusing on the fact that all the people in the show are black, latin, women etc. When they show a white guy in the show, then he is the idiot. Or the white dad who is so dumb that he can't even tie his own shoes. There are people who feel that God isn't male because that would make God less of a God if his is a male. Or God is not white because that would make him a sub-standard god. White men are supposed to judge all people as idndividuals but white men are always being judged as a group.
What makes it o.k. to do this only to one specific group. Is it some kind of revenge for what people think white men have done in the past. So they are just getting back at us for things that we never did (as individuals) to them?

As I have been reading the responses to my question, I am getting a lot of answers directed at me. Trust me, I don't own the world and I am not rich. I only wanted to find out why it is encouraged to hate one group, and blame them for everyone else's problems. Remember... It's only a question

It was OK because at the time these things were started it was the only way to see blacks, Latinos, Asians. Even today, you rarely see Latinos, Asians, and Arabs represented in the media, much less positively.
These races have been taught that they are inferior to whites, have no accomplishments, are criminals only, are wastes of times and these shows were to have positive images or ANY images shown.
Is BET relative today...not really. But an Asian music station focusing not on Asian music but Asian musicians IS.
You see, white have never needed any of these things. When have white EVER been oppressed in the United States of America. When has the law told you you cannot do something just because you are white. When AREN't you represented or favoured...honestly think about it. Even the Irish weren't treated as bad as the Chinese, the blacks, the Native Americans (and there were NO IRISH ALLOWED signs in America).
I understand what your saying, but you are saying it in the context that all races are equal here in America when even when I was in school in the 80's that wasn't so (I'm only 31). I remember when MTV only played Michael Jackson, Prince, and Lionel Ritchie. Rap music was played for ONE HALF hour, and the ONLY blacks on TV were the Cosby's and they were deemed FAKE because it showed two professional blacks...have whites ever had that here?
AND if your society blatently gives favours to one race over the other and if you are of the favoured race and say nothing about the unfairness...YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!!!!!

White people especially white men are ALWAYS complaining they get a bad rap. You own just about everything in the world so what the hell are you whining for??? White men have done the most damage to America as well as the world. You have enslaved, stolen, raped every culture there is and their ideas. You claim to be the most civilized of all races but when you look at your history, you are not. White men cause racism. In fact, since white people claim they invent everything, then I can believe they invented racism. There doesn't need to be an all white month to celebrate your history. We learn your history 365 days a year in school. It's call European History. There is no way God is a white man because God is not a thief or a liar and he has love for all. White men hate everything that is not white or geared towards his needs but yet they have this God mentality that they are superior and entitled to everything. That's why you are slowly but surely losing the power. You are starting to become the minority. You are sitting pretty now but God will punish the white man first for all the wrongs he has done to this planet and it's people. Watch.

I do not watch television in my home; however, I do know about this 'stupid White people' ideology because of a few episodes of cartoons I was watching with my little cousins.
I was shocked and dissapointed that the White characters in comparison to the other represented races are the stupidest people to ever live on the planet. I know that is not true since I get out a lot but children are being taught that.
How do I know? I asked my cousins about their thoughts and out of the mouths of babes came the evidence of idological manipulation via television.
This was in EVERY cartoon I watched. The White parents can't handle their children, they are disrespected by their children to huge extreems, and they are not as 'cool' as the other parents. Oh, not to mention that dinner is so dull because it is always the same "White food and Jello for dessert." The White children are always major nerds and always wanting something that they can't have or doesn't exist without powers.
What is with the labeling? Is it selling?
That is something to keepin mind there... what is selling? What is out there obviously! The money has to be flowing in or else it doesn't exist. If it exist there is a very large fan base.
Frankly... Liberalisim and multiculturalisim ring a bell?

It is the stereotypes that drive the world. Walk down a dark street, see a group of black or mexican teenagers dressed as teens do and tell me you wouldn't be afraid of getting jumped. See a muslim-type dressed in the baggy robes or whatever and wonder if they're about to blow the place up. See a beautiful blond overly endowed and tell me you wouldn't laugh if she gave the Marilyn Monroe giggle and introduced herself as a Quantum Physics Professor at MIT.
The world is made up of stereotypes that we must strive to overcome. Just because the media portrays any given group in a negative light doesn't mean that you should believe it to be so. I remember growing up with some of the 70's tv shows. "Chico and the Man", "All in the Family" and "Sanford and Son" are classic tv shows that would probably fit right in with today's lineup if they would add in a bunch of scantily clad women and cranked up the sexual innuendo.
I would say that it isn't a hatred for any particular demographic...as we're all labeled... I would say that you are just being sensitive to the unfair display of a group you belong to.

Yes, I agree with absolute equality..but our society is not like that.
Who runs the world? Who have all of the elected prime ministers and presidents been, who? Who in schools do children learn about as the leading scientists, mathematicians, artists, etc.? All white men, and until things are equal amongst the aspects I have just pointed out, then I don't blame minorities and women for wanting their own networks..I mean, who do you think the majority of the television execs, producers, are? White men.

Ya know i don't have an "answer" per say, however i do agree with you 150%.
There is "African American Awareness month" there is Latino appreciation, all the Orientals get nails salons, but what to the average white guy get other then a stereotype of being a racist.
If we had "Anglo Saxon, Caucasian appreciation" then not only would they call us raciest but they would think we were all KKK members or something like that.
I am not white myself i am Apache, However i grew up in a VERY white community, And i know exactly what it feels like to not only be stereotyped but to be in the shoes a the average white American. As i was raised by a all white family.
But seriously what is up with that??

Hatred for the white American male. For every show that portrays one stupid white male, you have ten other shows that portrays black males as stupid. There are shows all over different television networks that portray white males as successful and positive members of society. Then there are very, very few black characters on portrayed in successful, positive and non-stereotypical roles. I hate to hurt your feelings, but you don't have much of an argument going for you. A few whites made to look like fools compared to all the blacks who've been made to act like fools for the public..

It goes both ways. How many predominately white shows have you seen, where the black character is a thug, ignorant, drug dealing, etc?
It's all about stereotypes. It's funny how people can laugh when the joke is aimed at another race, but it's not too funny when it geared towards their own race.
This world is screwed up!

I agree with you 100%. I think the equal opportunity law needs to be revised too. People are judged according to color and/or sex. Black females get first consideration, then black males, whilte females, white males. Jobs should be given based on the persons ability to do the job not their race or gender. My mom's job was almost given to a black lady even though my mom was more qualified. The only reason my mom got the job is because the black lady had a record.
