Iv'e always wanted to move to Hawaii and study history but Im kinda concerned about the whole hositility issue towards white guys there. What is the best way to avoid this, are there certain areas that are worse than others, like does it change island to island?

Charlize Theron was born and raised in South Africa. She then eventually moved to America, making her an African-American.

However, Al Sharpton, a black man, was born in American and has probably never been to Africa!

So why do they call him an African American??

I know many people realize how stupid this is, but apparently many plack people do not, because they still want to be called African-American, even though they have never been to Africa!

All I can say is that unless you have become a minority and walked in their shoes, you have no idea what it is like and what you would do if you were one. I bet that anyone that was white had to put on a black person suit they would be begging to be white again. The difference in treatment is unbelievable. Anyway, there was a good program on FX called Black White. Very educational and mind-opening.

I think this needs to be answered because personally, I believe that everyone is racist to some degree. I'm not saying everyone here is a neo-nazi, but I would like to say have you ever had small racist thoughts some times, but you didn't say it out loud?

I just read on a forum that Martin Luther King came up with the idea of reparations. I personally am against this because it is only going to make hummer and gmc rich, and some people will go and get material things like gold teeth and other things that will not advance themselves... no one is going to invest in some quality education for themselves and their children to better themselves.

But did MLK really start this idea? is this true, im kinda shocked by this statement. why would he want something like that?

We live in the 21st century. No slavery, very little direct racism, and it seems like African-Americans tend to pull out the racism card when they don't get what they want. An black loses out on a job opportunity to a white person? Automatically, they assume that the company discriminates against "people of color". But who are they kidding? African-Americans have PROVEN to be just as intelligent and hardworking as any other ethnicity, and everybody knows that. Few people will actually discriminate against them anymore. Can't they realize that sometimes they don't win due to bad luck, a lack of legitimate qualifications, and other non-discriminating factors before they scream racism? Now, I know most African Americans aren't like this, but the uneducated, unmotivated ones often are. You could say the same goes for white people, but they can't exactly scream "racism!" When will everyone realize that slavery is long gone? No one's picking cotton anymore. Get over it, shall we?

I recenlty went to Argentina, Uruguay and Chile this past summer and i was shocked to see that most of the people in those countries are white. They didn't look like the latinos i see in the US which are mainly Mexicans.

I always wondered....Blacks always say that the "White Man" is racially profiling Blacks, and always seem to fight for equal rights and so on... That we cannot have segregated communities, schools, police forces, or any other place. Yet, the Blacks have the "NAAPC" awards, and another popular Hollywood awards show. BUT, if Whites had a whites only award show, all hell would break loose . Why is it acceptable to have an all blacks awards show, and not a white one? Who said at the top who had the right to have racism shown on TV? Isn't it such a double standard???

Seriously, you know the ones that refuse to let you over and try and run you over on the road in their SUV's and with their baby strollers. The ones that don't lend people spare change. Are they bitter about something?
