Is there some rationale for allowing a giant automaker to slap the name CHEROKEE on its vehicles when at the same time the University of Illinois is forced to abandon it's beloved Chief Illiniwek mascot? Why is it OK for Cleveland to have the Indians and Atlanta b\have the Braves, but Chief Illiniwek is considered to be a racist symbol? The whole world is going NUTS!

Keep in mind that Latino and Caucasion etc. are not races they are types of races

(c)White
(d)Asian
(e)Indian blooded
(f)Island Pacificer

I wouldn't really define myself goth....I carry some characteristics of gothic though. Anyway, my friend wants to start a goth club and she wants to know what activities to have available in it. I've googled, ask.comed, and now I think it's better just to ask people.

Who was more civilized? The Native Americans or the English settlers?
From history I've read, the Natives greeted the settlers, sometimes with food and gifts, and sometimes they just ignored them and went on with their business.

Jamestown, Virginia was the first permanent English settlement, it was on the territory of the Powhatans. The Powhatans watched the English settle but did not attack. When the English were starving during the winter of 1610, some English decided to join the Indians. The governor of the Indians sent an order to the Powhatans to return the "runaways", but the Indians didn't like the idea of forcing people to go and leave, so the English sent out soldiers to "take revenge".

My question is, even if they were called Natives or Indians, is it possible that they were more civilized than the English settlers?

Am I out of touch? because I constantly see folks criticize Black people for sagging pants, I never see that. I see baggy pants, but not sagging. Now that jeans are designed for us they come with the baggy look built in. Is it me who is out of touch or is it them?

what was their cheif activity? (hunters, farmers ...)
interesting words or customs that have made their way ino current American culture.
