you didnt just seriously ask that question did you? She's racist to america blacks as opposed to african blacks? did you re-read that before you submitted it? Do your research about life in africa and the life of those girls and then come back here and think about asking that question another way. School is FREE here. A lot is FREE here. Kids have no choice but to go to school here. There you have to pay to go to school. Health care is far from free if you're not one of the lucky ones being blessed with americas "gifts" and the gov could care less if you dont have the money to go to school. Those girls deserve it. why should oprah have to correct a problem in this nation when the problem really lies within our government that does very little to help the problem?

Just because she is helping people in a different country dosen't make her a racist. While it is true that there are people in this country that need help just as much as the kids in Africa do, she just chose to build it in Africa because the chances of those kids getting an education is probably a lot smaller than kids here. I do think that it is a little rude of her to spend millions of dollars on a school for only girls who have good grades. I think that if she truly did care she would open a public school for all African children to attend. I think that she did have good intentions, and that's what counts.

Oprah is sooooo not a racist. That's one of the things I love about her magazine and her show - she celebrates black people (and others as well) but without being exclusive about it. Like, she invites everybody, of all races, to get in on celebrating too! And that's a tricky thing to do. I've always been really impressed with how Oprah handles race.
And I don't know - I think she should be able to spend her money wherever she feels driven to give. They need help in South Africa, too!

Sooo how is she a racist..blacks are still blacks dont matter where they are America/Africa..anyways Oprah can do watever she wishes whatever she wants with her money, she works hard for it. I personally I think its a good thing she did for those poor African girls..noone would have done that for them..and I think Africans in Africa need all the help they can get..So im happy she did what she did

What does race mean to you? Do you know your origin? What is wrong with a black helping black.
African-Americans don't want to be "white" so you don't study in school ,thus being "black". Africans study and excel and so you consider us as "white' too? maybe that's why you will call Oprah's gesture as racist.
***** Race---> sub-Saharan Africa.
blacks in America from African ancestry are like us.We are all blacks from the same root.Some celebrities spend huge sums of monies on vacations and others and no one has the right to tell them how to use their money.if they are broke,neither you nor I will be helpful to them so just shut and let her do whatever she wants. lets hope that someday you will open a community center or a library in your area for blacks and forget about vacations.
Go back to school and study your black history well.

This is a DUMB question. Oprah has built homes for Katrina victims and given to black schools and causes for years. I'm glad someone is taking an initiative to help females in developing nations. It is a small step to changing the big problems that these countries have.

Oprah has helped plenty of Blacks in this country. Every year she gives scholarships to Black students to go to college. She donates her money to historically Black colleges and not to mention she helped out a lot during the after math of Hurricane Katrina. She even built a whole community in Texas made up of mostly Black refugees from Hurricane Katrina. Maybe she wanted to spread her generosity to where it is needed even more than here in America.

This question makes no sense. First of all how could she be racist? Aren't the blacks in Africa just if not more black than the ones here? Second, since when did the blacks here not have shoes to wear, schools to be educated in, and homes not made of straw? Come on...

Because African-Americans have the means to get themselves on their own feet, but people from Africa have literally nothing.
