I always wondered....Blacks always say that the "White Man" is racially profiling Blacks, and always seem to fight for equal rights and so on... That we cannot have segregated communities, schools, police forces, or any other place. Yet, the Blacks have the "NAAPC" awards, and another popular Hollywood awards show. BUT, if Whites had a whites only award show, all hell would break loose . Why is it acceptable to have an all blacks awards show, and not a white one? Who said at the top who had the right to have racism shown on TV? Isn't it such a double standard???

I do not want answers like "hey white dud, get off your horse and bugger off" I really want a straight answer, not an answer with hatred in it.

As a group blacks are allowed to practice pride in there race....root for the team with a black quarter back just because he is black and vote for people just because they are black. They are also alowed to have black only venues..ie scolarships, groups, and other things,,like bet ( black entertainment television.) being white we are restrianed by political correctnes from having any pride in our race. we are not allowed to root for the white guy, or display any sort of pride in who we are if we do we are labeled racist..........fair not by a long shot but that is the life of the whiteman our skin is our sin

The reason we have NAAPC and our own award shows and you don't is so that we don't address the real issues of racism and inequality in this country. And a lot of people run off thinking we've achieved something by having them, but we have achieved nothing by getting an awards show.

Also, so that when whites are confronted about racial issues, they have something to say in their defense, although they truly know that an awards shows does nothing to equal the field.

It is a double standard. But it only shows favor to blacks by appearance. Tell me what are the benefits of having an awards shows? What good does it actually do for the community? How does it make school districts equal? There is nothing to envy or be jealous of an awards show for.

The genius of the whole thing is that blacks complain against whites and whites complain against blacks while the rich get richer and laugh at both of our ignorant asses. I do know that it's harder out here for a black man, but poor white America is being bamboozled as well. We are both arguing over meaningless things like award shows while the middle class continues to shrink and the poorer classes get bigger.

You ask, if not, then what is it? It's capitalism with diversions to keep the populous (both black and white) worried about trivial matters while the rich gain more money, power, and influence over us.

a number of those responses are ridiculous. As an American, i'm beginning up to attain how racist Britain actually is. include variety rather of thinking "Oh no!! they are taking up". I literary have acquaintances from almost each and every lifestyle which you could think of, and it has in actuality made me a extra effective individual. Even the deep south of the U. S., which has a bad acceptance for racism, isn't close to as undesirable as what I see on a number of those message boards. I grew up in an area the place i replaced into the only white youngster, and that i replaced into at situations discriminated against, yet i do no longer make generalizations of all minorities as a results of fact of it.

Of course it's a double standard. We white people are just pretty much apathetic towards it. I don't have any problem with any race or gender having any special program or organization specifically for themselves. There are plenty of them. Black, Asian, American Indian, gender, etc., etc. And I don't have any problem if whites have the same. One of the biggest problems is, the ones that whites do have are usually ugly. Like the KKK, American Nazi Party or and white supremacist group. It's really too bad, but it makes it look like any white group would be racist. It's certainly not true.

Some individuals like to say that since whites are the majority it is OK. This is silly of course. Just because you're the minority doesn't mean you're not racist. and just because your the majority certainly doesn't make you racist. If this ideas were correct then that would mean that anything female would be sexist because they are the majority. It would also mean that anyplace that had a majority of blacks for instance would be racist. Or American Indians, etc. It really is silly. Racism, sexism, etc. does not have boundaries. You can be black and be racist. You can be Asian and be racist, etc., etc., etc. and it doesn't matter how many people are in or not in your group.

Some people even use the silly argument that because an individual is in the minority they can't be racist. This is just intellectual laziness. It's nonsense to allow a group of people to be abusive because they're the minority. Preposterous.

It's true!!!! Think about it Blacks and any other race not white, has to work 10 - 20 times more harder than whites. You have to be of another ethnicity other than white to truely understand how deep racism is. Too counter your example of the award shows; we have the NAACP awards, the Source awards and other award shows like it simply because we are not always recognized across the board in the industry. The reason why it's like that is because many artist are excluded, and most of the time they want you to recognize whites as being the only ones who have ever accomplished great feats in life. For example,we invented the stop light (Did you learn this fact in school?) , no black person had won an academy award in 20-30 yrs since Sydney Potier (resently Denzel Washington) & they deprived him his moment when Halle won the same night for Monster's Ball & for films that were not there personal best . Denzel should have won for Courage under Fire or John Q . Until you've been pulled over by the police & you ask the why'd you pull me over & he says you disrespected him by going the speed limit You'll never understand why we need our own award cermonies to honor our peers.

I was watching the news the other day and a white woman that murdered her husband got 5 yrs. probation and over 500 hrs. of community service. Now I want you to take that same jury, and put another woman of any different ethnic background in her place and see how long of a sentence they get. The truth of the matter is that, Blacks are still the worlds most hated.

You want to talk about segregated schools and police forces; lets look at that for a minute. If you don't have the money to go to a private institution guess where you get to go to school? Public schools in certain areas don't operate on the same academic level as private schools. When it comes to police, many whites think it's detrimental to give a black man a gun and badge; no matter how good of a person he might be.

When you hear statistics on AIDS/HIV who are they always pointing the finger at? The media acts like black folks invented it. They make it seem like we are the only ones with the disease. When in fact we are not the only ones, we're just the only ones they like to give statistics about. How many black people do you know with an std?

I'm not even going to talk about "Hurricane Katrina," that to me was just disrespectful. We were officially downgraded to "refugees." Black people that were born in this country, living their lives for years, were now no-longer considered citizens. However, the good people of Mississippi were just doing what they had to do to survive. If you don't see the racism in that then morally there's something wrong with you.

Racism is a problem subject that many people hate to talk about because it only brings about anger and bad memories. The only question I want to ask you is when is it not about racism?

I see where you are coming from but you are only looking at it on the surface. Most people that didn't take the time to look in to the NAACP and what they stand for and what the away show stood for would make the same lame assumption as you. First of all the NAACP isn't just for "blacks" as you call them. With that said they don't only award "blacks". They also award people that show great effort in taking steps towards helping the black community, including "whites". So next time you wanna make stupid remakrs such as this do your research.

Racism. The NAACP was actually started by white, jewish, german and black people. The NAACP was designed for the interests of people of color, not specifically blacks but it has been exploited to mean that. Now it seems to exclude the people it was designed to help. Asians, Native Americans, blacks, etc. I understand what you are saying but it is too late to change it. Diversity was supposed to be the sharing of cultures not a melting pot like America where we have to cater to all the differences. It is what we have in common that is of importance not what we differ in. That is my opinion. I am not a fan of individuality when it creates a barrier. Races have barriers like neighborhoods, entertainment, etc. That proves that it is natural to segregate to preserve the differences. If everyone mixed it up we wouldn't be able to appreciate the differences. Does that make a person a racist? To be attracted to, marry, and have kids within our own race is that racist? Diversity really is segregation to preserve the differences of people so that they can appreciate the differences not destroy them by dilution.

Racism is alive and well in all races. You are beating a dead horse with your questions. Who at the top said it is alright? Easy, the guy who knows who the sponsors are. If a sponsor can sell to a specific ethnic group, and he will give money, the producers will produce those shows.
The last try at Dukes of Hazzard was a bomb. Things change. If you can't or won't you will get left behind. If you don't like the shows, don't watch them, don't participate, I don't., and I get along just fine in life.

Racism is a POWER issue. Black people are a minority and are not IN POWER because this is a white-dominated society, and so they can't be racist. I'm not saying there aren't black people out there that don't hate white people--every race had members who hate a different race, power or no power. But as far as racism goes, the majority holds the power.
