My boss let me go --
Happily addicted to the Web.
All night long, I sit clicking,
Unaware time is ticking,
There's beard on my cheek,
Same clothes for a week,
Happily addicted to the Web!


Friends come by; they shake me, Saying, "Yo, man!
Don't you know tonight's the senior prom?"
With a listless shrug, I mutter "No, man;
I just discovered laugh-a-lot-dot-com!"
I don't phone, don't send faxes,
Don't go out, don't pay taxes,
Who cares if someday
They drag me away?
I'm happily addicted to the Web!

Do you still go to the trouble of making those special things ? I used to make a gingerbread house every year, but stopped when my kids grew up. Now, I have a little grand-daughter and I've decided to start again...its uch fun and the kids love them. Do you still go to the trouble of making special foods, or does the freezer section at the grocery store seem more attractive these days?

I am a disabled person and I cant't get a good job in my community. I am multiy disabled I have a minor physical disability and Manic depression. which is passed on from generation t genartion. Mamic depressive can be too slow or they can be go getters I fit the fomer. I don't have good typing skills or ten key skills. I have been trained in accounting and bookkeeping in school and Goodwill Industries for the disabled. and i need to make a good income.

SENIOR REJECTS? I used to get the comments in my yahoo email all the time. Now nothing. Was I kicked off because I didn't say much? Or was the group disbanded? I don't see some of the folks who were contributors to that group on Y/A either.

If you call someone nappy headed, crusty black, or a f@g, the WHOLE community would get offended. But why is it no problem for people to fvck over disabled people? Why don't people speak up for the disabled & helpless being mistreated? I think disabled people have it the WORST-especially mentally ill. People just do you any ol' kinda way, & when problems escalate, nobody believes you. They take your money, make fun of you, beat you up, tell lies on you...all KINDS of bad stuff. & they have the advantage of beating up on a mentally disabled person & lying & saying that they beat themselves up.

2 of my brothers came over today. I didn't want them over, but I figured I'd be lenient since it's the holidays. My gay brother was doing everything he can to trigger me off with an anxiety episode, & him & my other brother (& his girlfriend) were whispering in each other's ear, talking bad about me. I didn't have a right to stand up for myself in my OWN house because of fear of altercation.

Every Christmas Eve, the local paper in my hometown [Springfield {OH} News&Sun] would print "The Night Before Christmas" on the backpage. It had printed the same page every year since the page was designed in 1939. There was a big drawing of Santa, with elves and reindeer around the border of the page.
Anyway, I always loved that quote which appeared at the bottom of the page. Now I really know what it means!

I hear that Nicaragua has cleaned up their image in the last 10 years. A lot of Americans are investing, and moving, there. Their Cost of Living is low and living there would be a challenge and an adventure.
Has anybody [or a friend/relative] on this Senior's Board retired to a foreign country? How pleasant was the experience?

Working in retail it has been my experience that some people have an ere about them that makes them feel as though they are better than me. They refuse to look me in my face, throw money at me, or talk to me as if I don't know english. This happens more often than not. I don't want to think that it is because I am an African American female. I want to think that it is a class or gender difference but I'm running out of excuses. I am beginning to believe that other cultures falsely believe that black people will forever be inferior to them. I cannot generalize about everyone because what is true for one is never true for all, but I guess my real question is are there some people of different classes that believe in the back of their mind,whether they will say it or not, that people of African descent are really inferior to them?
