Many people with disabilities do get good jobs in their communities. I have one. Many are self-employed. You have accounting skills - plenty of opportunities to use that with people with disabilities who own their own businesses I could sure use a book keeper :)

the system is unfair, acts were passsed giving employers
tax incentives to hire people with disabilities, but
i feel employers put too much emphasis on disabilities.
a disabled person may do a great job, a healthy person
may do a poor job. also, getting a disabled person
on group health insurance maybe hard.

I used to work with someone who used to be a job placement specialist for people with mild mental retardation.

He said that he had found a few banks willing to hire his people counting cash from the ATMs (Because they were stable, and they were trustworthy). They got paid more than the people who were paid to take care of them.

You should look for companies that specifically say they are diversity employers, because they are looking for that tax incentive.

You can also check out your local unemployment office since they sometimes have specialized placement services. (They are usually called OneStop's)

many countries are now forcing employers to take on dis-abled workers,
its a dog eat dog world and business is built on exploitation usually, successfull business people are are not famous for their humanitarian out look, they are famous for their ruthless, selfishness, they only give to charities to give the impression to the public that they are generous patrons, but this is only another tactic to preserve their exclusive life styles! and prevent governments from taking their money in taxes, they have to be forced to take on the disabled and that is in process but every thing takes time,
merry christmas
