If you call someone nappy headed, crusty black, or a f@g, the WHOLE community would get offended. But why is it no problem for people to fvck over disabled people? Why don't people speak up for the disabled & helpless being mistreated? I think disabled people have it the WORST-especially mentally ill. People just do you any ol' kinda way, & when problems escalate, nobody believes you. They take your money, make fun of you, beat you up, tell lies on you...all KINDS of bad stuff. & they have the advantage of beating up on a mentally disabled person & lying & saying that they beat themselves up.

2 of my brothers came over today. I didn't want them over, but I figured I'd be lenient since it's the holidays. My gay brother was doing everything he can to trigger me off with an anxiety episode, & him & my other brother (& his girlfriend) were whispering in each other's ear, talking bad about me. I didn't have a right to stand up for myself in my OWN house because of fear of altercation.

I didn't intend on offending anyone. My whole point is-why is no one ever wrong for mistreating a disabled person?

People do ---- but their voices are often blasted out by the people who do the opposite. Just look at the blind joke posted - how many people condemned the person for posting it? How many people reported it? Why is it still here?

you sound like you've got a lot of issues yourself...

why are you spewing racial insensitive remarks? why did you feel the need to mention that your brother is gay? i don't know what any of these things have to do with anything...

but if you were trying to say that making fun of the mental ill or disabled is wrong, then yes i agree.

you should take all that nasty anger and make it into something positive...sitting on here ranting isn't doing anything to help anyone.

its too bad, you felt pressured not to stand up for yourself in your own house, but that was your choice. you say "why don't people speak up for the disabled and helpless being mistreated?" the answer is you have to speak up for yourself.

the world doesn't owe you anything, honey. if you want something, you have to fight for it. don't expect someone to come rescue you.

the black and gay communities have spent decades, if not centuries, speaking out about their injustices and defending their rights. no one did it for them. if you want to be respected, then stand up for your own rights and others will follow.

learn how to address inappropriate behavior in people firmly and directly without resorting to yelling. that would've let them know that you refuse to be pushed around, but that you weren't falling into an unreasonable episode.

good luck.

No matter what SOME people think, it is NEVER OK to do any of those things. Abusing the disabled is the worst. People who do that are bullies. I hate bullies and do not put up with it if I see someone bullied.
