I'm a gay teenager, and there's a guy I would like to ask on a date. I'm pretty sure he's gay; however, if he isn't, I don't want to offend him by asking him out. How do I find out if he's gay without pissing him off?

Dear Adelphia,
Time to break out the pride jewelry? That's about the only settle way i can think of.
Unfortunately there's no easy, or safe, way to ask the person you like out, with out taking the chance of getting shot down.
Welcome to the fun world of dating young man.
And during this holiday season let us all stop to remember the true meaning of this celebration… That Santa died for all our MasterCards.
Hugs,

in simple terms start up conversing approximately relationships and dad interior the question "So do you have a girl chum or boyfriend on the mo?". alongside with boyfriend will make him sense which you think of its a classic component and which you settle for people for being gay. He isn't indignant in any respect!

I'd definitively go with CoolKd's approach up the list a few. This is a sure fire way to get to know each other better and it has worked many times.

I was kind of in the same perdacement what I did I asked him to hang out not saying it was a date or anything just hanging out. We went to the movies about 2 weeks ago and he leaned in and kissed me much to my surprise! So that kiss said it all. So ask him to hang out and see how he acts when its just you 2 and no one else around you will see if he is truely what you think he may be. Plus If he turns you down its fine im sure you will find someone right for you.

well...first make sure he or she knows you very well....they will not give an honest answer if they feel uncomfortable with you.......

then make sure you guys are alone, because if there is anyone else around, they might give you a dishonest answer......

then ask....but assure him or her that you will not look at them differently if they are and that you wont tell anybody.........

AND it would work out because in the event that you decide to go back on your word and tell other people.....he or she could just deny it and get away with it because you were the only witness......

If hes a friend or someone you know pretty well, then jusk ask,all he can do is get mad and say no.
But if this the person isnt someone you know too well then i would say(and to avoid trouble)just leave it alone.

Honestly, I just ask people flat-out if they are gay. If they get offended, that's their own problem. They shouldn't.

It is unfortunate that it can still be construed as "offensive" to ask that question. It implies that being gay is somehow wrong or inferior.

well i have used the standard:
are you gay?
which might not work so well with closeted teens.
or try honesty:
i'm gay and i'm attracted to you. i'd like to ask you out, but only if you are interested.

subtly flirt with him and see how he reacts.
or just casually ask "so do you have a girlfriend? or boyfriend?", which will probably lead to him stating his orientation.
good luck & happy holidays :)
