The night before Christmas, at a Computer Shop.

T’was the night before Christmas, and throughout the shop
Computers were humming; they never do stop
The lights were on but it was fairly quiet
The customers gone, for it was late at night.

But systems were ready, and programs were coded.
All memory chips had been carefully loaded
And adding a Christmassy glow to the scene
The lights on the consoles flashed red, white and green.

Then quite unexpected, on an 18 inch screen
With a flicker appeared an unusual scene
A sleight and eight reindeer, yes it was one of those
And a little old man, who said: I’m Santa Claus.

The computer was startled, confused by the name
Then it buzzed as it heard it heard the old fellow explain:
“This is Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
And comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen.”

With all these odd names, it was puzzled anew;
It hummed and it clanked, and the main circuit blew.
It searched in it’s memory blank, trying to “think”;
Then the multi-line printer went out on the blink.

Unable to do it’s usual job,
It said in a voice that was almost a sob:
“Your eyes – how many how they twinkle – your dimples so merry,
Your cheeks so like roses, your nose like a cherry.

You’re jolly old face and that little round belly
That shakes when you laugh like a bowl full of jelly
I surely should have been programmed to know
But my data – recall is not only slow.

Your name and your details, I just cannot find
In the depths of my memory there is no such kind
My scanners can see you, but I have to insist
You’re not in my program,… so… you cannot exist!”

Old Santa just chuckled a merry “Ho, Ho”,
Then sat down to type out a word or so.
They key board click-clattered, it’s sound sharp and clean,
As Santa wrote this for the machine:

“Kids everywhere know me; I come every year.
The presents I give bring joy and bring cheer.
But your programmers did not remember me.
So a present for you has no meaning, you see.

Then he faced the computer and said with a shrug,
“Merry Christmas to you,”… as he pulled out the plug!

Thankyou for listening to my Poem that I have originally made.
Did you enjoy it? Any tips to make it better?

Meaning that Israel is holy to Muslims, Jews, and Christians and they all believe in the God of Abraham, but each group claims that their way is the truth. Can it be all one truth? Now who do you think it is that wants us to remain in disputes, confused, who do you think wants us seperated in harsh disagreements? But your Lord will clear all your disputes at the last hour, do we have to wait till then?

Yeah, I didn't know how to word that. But anyways, I see people answering people saying stuff like, "God loves you. Trust in God." Stuff like that. Then there's people who say "there is no God, so _____." Why don't people say, "I think." Not everyone has the same beliefs as you, and you shouldn't respond to people with certainty in a faith that YOU have. You can have certainty to yourself, and be really positive about what you believe in, but you don't need to make it seem like you're faith is THE faith, even if it is in your mind. Just respect peoples opinions.

Religious beleifs have been the cause of too much bloodshed on our planet. But than again, so have political beleifs. Our world is in peril. Religious beleifs have not saved us and I doubt politics will. Wake up people!

One of my neighbors always comes and asks me for things. I always give it to him if I have it, but my husband doesn't like him to much. Today he knocked on my door and asked if I would give him a ride and his granddaughter would watch my kids. No way I can do that so I just said my husband would not like that and he just said ok and left.

My question is should I tell my husband? It will make him really mad and I don't want trouble in my building. We are so close to moving and want things to stay calm till then. But my husband would also be mad if I didn't tell him.

What should I do?

My teacher was giving us a lecture since our class is bad. My teacher said in 10-15 years men and women between the ages of 18-27 will be drafted into World War 3. Women will because they said have the same rights as men do now but back then they didn't. There is going to be a World War 3 because people are less caring and other countries will take over and she said it's because people these days have bad attitudes like "why do I have to do this & do I have too" and everything is handed to them but she said back then people were lucky if they had food on the table and they took anything that was given to them and they worked for everything. She also said China can take over any time because we owe them billions of dollars. My Language Arts teacher also said "you may think I'm lieing and saying that I'm just saying this, but I'm not." She got me scared about this lecture but my mom said they won't let women in the war because they will get raped. What do you think about this?

How do I pull off an all nighter without coffee?

At the time of writing I've got to ten past three in the morning (GMT) and am at the point where I'm tempted to throw in a really corny joke for the hell of it.

Any solutions welcomed.

Atheists:
Do you watch lots of T.V., read tabloids, and have a great interest in celebrities and/or celebrity gossip?

I am interested if there is any connection to religious worship.
Whether athiests might be free of some gentic predisposition of the need to worship.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

God commanded us to kill:
unruly children: Deut: 21:20
Idolaters: Deut 13:6
The Accused: Deut 17:6
Children of enemies (to include babies): Nu.31:17, Deut 21:13, Psalm 137:9
A bride who is accused of not being a virgin: Deut: 22:13
The careless Ex 21:29

Who we should hate:
Those who eat crab or shrimp: Lev 11:10
Those who remarry same person: Deut 24:4
Homosexuals: Lev 18:22
the proud: Pr 16:5
A woman who wears pants: Deut 22:5
A man with long hair: ICor 11:14 (oops new testament)

and all the things God apparently either did himself or approved of or commanded to do?
The earth swallowing up thousands, God drowns almost everyone on Earth, He kills Egyptian babies to punish Pharaoh, people having to eat their own children's flesh, God punished children for their parent's sin, threatens to have wild animals to carry away Israelite's children...

And worst of all, God ruins Job's life all because of a wager with the Devil!

How was this transformed into a God of mercy?

this question was asked once before but then was removed due to some reason i dont know. (so if anyone can fill in my question and theological points then thankx

anyhow, assume god exists ok. now lets go one more step and say hypothetically he announces himself to the whole world and everyone agrees that their is a god. Now why would i follow him? God demands us to follow certain rules, and if not we go to hell. thats like an evil dictator forcing you to be his slave or less you get severely punished. god is pointing a gun to the head, and demanding you follow him or else. wouldn't a brave and courageous man rather live his life the way he wants to and suffer the consequences, then conform to gods rule, and let his life be run in a way he doesn't want it to?

I understand that the Bible is the guide to my life, but my attention gets diverted when I encounter a word or phrase that I am not familiar with. I want to be able to go to the Bible to solve my ever day problems.

Just in case there is a God who punishes anyone who believes in a supernatural diety to suffer for eternity?

Here's a new wager that I think is equally valid/absurd as Pascal's.
