Please elaborate. Her Royal Highness, as you know, has reached another milestone: the oldest British monarch alive or dead. Over the past 55 years, she apparently has become accustomed to the rich benefits of sitting on the Throne - NO, get your mind out of the toilet! And there's her poor firstborn, fidgeting in the wings with Camilla. She's the one in the background; Charles is over there, yes, the one who looks like an impatient horse, stamping his feet outside Buckingham Palace.

Very sad. Especially if the old bat outlives him.

i don't really take " oh my god" as something bad. i believe its not good to say because it becomes a habit, but i just don't worry about not saying it.

To a point yes. but many of them are offered help and dont want it. I know of a woman who saw a homeless man with a sign and she went to a pizzaria and bought him a large pizza. She gave him the pizza told him its all for him because she doesnt want him to go hungry.

He takes the pizza and threw it in the trash. He wanted booze.

I am Catholic, but frankly I think most Catholics are anti-American and unpatriotic. They pounce on American imperfections while ignoring the glaring faults of foreign despots. Sometimes I think the Church as an institution resents American influence in the world and believes that God cannot work through nations but only through itself.

If you have a $50 gas station/convenience store gift card and you use it at the pump to pay for $42 of gasoline for your car and then later find that the pump malfunctioned and did not deduct the $42 from your gift card, leaving you with still $50, would you say something or keep the $50? Why would you make your decision and how would you feel about it afterwards?

After all, no two lives in this physical manifestation are the same, so isn't it just possible that if there be an afterlife, the experiences of that afterlife will be different?

Think about this for a minute:

Our lives are in large part determined by the culture and society in which we are born and raised. Much of our life is already determined by the circumstance of our birth. In spiritual matters as well, how we relate to spirituality is in large measure dictated by the circumstances in which our life is lived. Each culture has its views on afterlife, just as each culture lives within a different framework in this present, physical life.

Considering this, isn't it possible that the afterlife, if we accept one, will be as varied and marvelous in experience as this present life? I see no reason why there should be no room for different experiences of afterlife, just as there are different experiences of present life. Why must it be one experience?

What do you think?

Usually, when someone says something nasty about (presumably all) Americans, I say, "I understand. He/she has a point."

But recently, everywhere I go someone (sometimes another American) is insulting us. Sometimes really aggressively. Which, I still understand--but it kinda' worrisome....

I know I do it too, though. I sometimes say to my Asian friends, "You're lucky you didn't have to suffer American high school." And I catch myself admitting, "American are violent, arrogant, bossy, overconsumerist, and shallow. Plus, they cater to the rich and have a vulgar sense of humor." But I didn't mean all of us! ~_~

Most the people I surround myself with are pretty good world citizens. Some of them smoke (overconsumerist) etc., but they are not ego-maniacs and have healthy admiration of other cultures. We don't impose our lifestyle on others. We're against the war, for the environment, and we don't buy much. So...knowing what ya' know, would ya' hate on us?

I was so depressed this Christmas season because my sister died. I tried shopping earlier, but just wandered aimlessly in the stores and couldn't cope with it. Some people live out of town and I know there is no way I can send something and have it get there on time. So, call them and explain? I can't hardly talk about it without crying. Just send the gifts with a note? What to do?

I have decided that atheism has absolutely nothing to do with whether you believe or disbelieve in any deity. The only true atheists are those who have made a formal study of logic and are capable of providing detailed proofs in the subject. By this definition, I suspect that many of you who consider yourselves atheists are, in fact, not. I hope this doesn't come as a shock to you.

By the way - I'm in the middle of an argument with a purported atheist who has redefined Christianity so that it has nothing to do with Christ, and has therefore concluded that I'm not a Christian. I'm trying to make a point here, so please don't get all huffy. Just tell me - is this a reasonable position to take, or would my insistence on it be adequate proof that I've finally gone completely 'round the bend?

I just returned from a shopping venture and, as usual, I couldn't help but drop five bucks in the Salvation Army kettle. That organization has roots deep in Christianity, but throughout my life I've seen the good work they do whenever and wherever a need arises. Do you drop a few bucks in the kettle each year? Just curious. Thanks.

Have you ever heard this story of it?

A little boy returned from Sunday school with a new perspective on the Christmas story. He had learned all about the Wise Men from the East who brought gifts to the Baby Jesus. He was so excited he could hardly wait to tell his parents.

As soon as he arrived home, he immediately began, "I learned all about the very first Christmas in Sunday school today! There wasn't a Santa Claus way back then, so these three skinny guys on camels had to deliver all the toys!

"And Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with his nose so bright wasn't there yet, so they had to have this big spotlight in the sky to find their way around!"

all i did was say merry christmas everyone
and had a few responses then checked my mail the next day and yahoo answers sent me a violation notice because of it.
not only did they send me a violation notice but they also deleted my statement !!!
i guess my question is this
" was i wrong to say merry christmas to you all because that is what ive been taught through my up bringing? "
i wasnt trying to put down any other religous beliefs.....
and would not have been offended to get a reply saying happy kawanza or hanakah, or anything thing else for that matter....
how politically correct to we have to be?
even on yahoo answers?
