I have been reading many answers to atheistic questions and the word "satan" comes into the picture a lot. If you have no "belief" in God, then the entire spiritual, scriptural side of deity shoul be irrelevant to you. Where are you coming from that you seem to know so much about satan? satan only comes from scripture as the antithesis of God.
As another arguement - how is it that so many atheists know so much about God?

Every year we have a christian New years eve party. We have all the families and kids over at the house. At 12:00 we "toast" in the new year. For something different, what about having communion? Our pastor is here. He could do it for us. We would be starting the new year with Christ.

this is our second marriage. this time around i think because we didn't have the pressures of raising children, they are all adults, our finacial situation is much stronger, we are retired so don't have employment issues, and we are a lot more laid back. of course being soulmates really helps. we really did save the best for last, we live, laugh, dream and love together. we have clocked up almost 14 yrs, and our respect, compassion, and our desire to share the rest of our lives together grows stronger and stronger.

Its impossible to live the length of time that the bible says people lived between Adam and Eve and Noah. They were still humans. I've heard some religionists say they lived longer then because they didn't have disease back then but the bible never says that and no evidence that was true. Anyway, even without disease the joints wear out quickly after about a 100. No way the human body could last 500+ years. So isn't this more proof the bible is not literal? History shows that average human lifespans rarely exceeded 40-50 years before modern medicine and sanitary conditions. Life was hard back then. Frequent wars too. Seems totally impossible.

I believe these dominations, along with most others, have HIGHLY sexist values.

Obviously not to the extent of faiths such as Islam, but I still believe you can find high-profile examples of sexism within Western religion. What do YOU think?

...please be ready to defend your point as I'm coming at you with questions such as:

What is the ratio of women to men amongst religious leaders?
Have you ever heard of an esteemed "Archbishop-ess"?
Or a "Pope-ess"?

Not to mention the oppressive idealisms such as making it a woman's responsibility to remain "pure" until wedlock...

....BUT. I could very well be wrong... So answers are appreciated.

Although my Grandma should be looking forward to Christmas and her holiday to Spain for 11 weeks, but she is down in the dumps and can't bring herself to look forwards to.

I know what she means... Like there is nothing good ever going to happen again; I think most people get it.

Any tips to perk her up a bit?

Thanks, xxx

I am amazed by the answers given around questions such as these. Could someone please educate me on this "evolution" of the fly? What did it "evolve from? Please do not give your opinion but some kind of proof. Any kind of proof.
Do not get your answer mixed up with Natural Selection.
I worked with fruit flies for over ten years and we could never get anything but a fly from all the research. 1000 different kinds of flies. All flies.
Please show me this evolution everyone keeps talking about.

For sure there are some beautiful things in life, I'm not so jaded to believe it's all bad. But for every smile and happy life story, there are at least equivalent sad ones. For every safe journey, there's a bomb going off somewhere, for every healthy baby, there's a dude in some alley about to pull the trigger. The world is a big, big place and murder, corruption, unfairness, and greed happen every day along with the rest. My question is, is God responsible for all this, too? Did God make it so one person is born with a disability, while another is blissfully unafflicted? Is he the one who allows one guy to inherit a million bucks, and another to struggle all his life for a decent meal? Or is it some one else? something else?
And even if so, why would God allow that? Unless he wanted it? And then, why the heck would he want it if it didn't have to be that way?
I'm just .. really curious to see what you have to say about this.

His glory is too great? Um, guess what, he has the power to overcome anything he wants.
This life is a test? Pretty big elaborate stupid test if you ask me. And the allowance of child molestation is part of it? That's pretty sick.

why do muslims think that only allah can make a fly?

we can make a sheep and a pig. if that is the test as to what a god is, then it's not very hard to pass.

it also proves the quran wrong, so you muslims can stop being so fanatic over it.

Can anyone guess why I'm leaving this section of Yahoo for good?

This may sound stereotypical, but since I've been here, I've noticed that people demand answers and when they get them, they either completely ignore the answer or acknowledge it and then start on something else. No matter what Muslims say or do, it's never good enough for those who only have hatred in their hearts. They trust the news as if it was a lifeline and ignore the people around them. Instead of using their minds they allow a TV to dictate how they feel. So, I am leaving this section for good. It's just not worth the time and effort when I know that it won't make a single difference. I have better things to do than to seek approval or acknowledgment from people who see individuals on the news as representative of a group.

I don't think many people on this site have ever experienced the love of family or a normal life. I thank God everyday that I have so much love in my life. It's sad some don't.

I have come across the following stance from gospel of Judas.

"Kingdom of god is spread out on this world. Those who have eyes can see it."

I liked these very much and it is in tune with other gnostic religions. What is your opinion about these verses?
