Although my Grandma should be looking forward to Christmas and her holiday to Spain for 11 weeks, but she is down in the dumps and can't bring herself to look forwards to.

I know what she means... Like there is nothing good ever going to happen again; I think most people get it.

Any tips to perk her up a bit?

Thanks, xxx

Maybe help her get her get a nice wardrobe ready for the trip, or help her to have a camera to take pictures of it with...If she has family ties to Spain, maybe look through some pictures that will remind her of the good times she had there...Or look through a travel brochure of things she might be able to do once she gets there...

A lot of people, become "down in the dumps" around the holidays, it's a stressful time of year, for adults. There is a lot of pressure to do more, in a short period of time, and it becomes overwhelming.

Offer to help her get ready for the holidays, offer to wrap gifts for her, clean house, help her with cooking and baking. Bring her a nice meal you've prepared. Once the holidays are underway, her blues will likely pass, and things will start looking good to her again.

Consider the fact that your grandmother might be suffering from a mental illness, like possibly depression. Encourage your grandmother to have herself evaluated by a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Maybe she is depressed or ill, has she seen her doctor recently?
