The recent question on the Mayan calendar (ending in 2012) got my interest. Having studied astrology and several ancient calendars in the past, I now have to ask 'what year are we really in?

Herod, who ordered the death of Jesus while still living obviously, died 2BC according to history while Dionysius ('Little Dennis' of Constantine fame) miscalculated by another 4 years. So we have 6 to 7 missing years already!

The Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) tells us that this will happen. The Sabbath has been changed to a Sunday in prep for global Sun worship; the new year has changed to 1st january and we even believe (well, non or marginal Chritians at least) that Christmas marks the birth of Jesus!

Are we not in, at least, 2014? Can we use the Jewish/Chinese/Indian calendars etc to really establish the year? Using these facts and actual history, can you establish what year we are really in?

Would you kneel down and cast your eyes to the ground in profound reverence and humility?

I'm speaking to all the non-believers out there.

If you will just tell him,"get thee behind me SATAN", you could be pure and think clean like me and be free of all the DEMONIC thoughts that you have. At least that's what the preacher told us at Landover Baptist Church last Sunday. I tried it and I didn't think any dirty thoughts for several minutes. Try it, it works.

You and 2 others have been watching a movie it is about 1 hour and 20 minutes into a 1 hour 45 minute movie. Your roommate shows up she has met one of your guest several times and has never met the other. Is it more rude to stop the movie to introduce the two or to just say hello to your roommate? The roommate does not join you in watching the movie simply walks in and heads to there room.

There's not enough proof out there for me to believe in god. I was raised as a Pentecostal. I've seen a lot of things that are supposedly the works of god, like speaking in tongues. The holy ghost comes over you and you start talking gibberish (for those of you that don’t know what it is). I think speaking in tongues happens through the power of suggestion. I've never seen him or felt a presence. Sorry if this offends anyone, but to me the bible is just a book. Even if I cared about the bible, I have no way of knowing who really wrote the books or what their intentions were. I don't think I could have blind faith either. If I don’t believe in god because there’s no proof, would he send me to hell if he does exist.

Any question, criticism or debate are met with condescending comments and insults. Isn't this very type of closed-minded behavior these people claim to hate?

The hypocrisy in this area of discussion is amazing to me.

When evidence or criticism that seems to contradict the Evolutionary Theory is introduced it is offhandedly thrown out without even being seriously consdiered. What is up with that?

This Scripture is found at 1 Corinthians 11:3.

"But I want YOU to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God."

So, the arrangement goes like this:
woman > man > Christ > God

My question is to those who believe Jesus is God. How would this arrangement be possible if Jesus is God? If Jesus is God, he wouldn't have to submit to ANYONE because he would be God and God is never submissive to anyone. How do you guys explain this one?

The 4th of July isn't the 3rd it's the fourth. Yea I know it's also independence day. The Holiday is Christmas. Haunaka is a minor day to Jews. Kwanzaa is a joke. Since when is a religion that celebrates smoking pot taken seriously? Nothing against the spleef but it's a joke.
The attitude is driven by insurance companies who won't cover law suits from saying Merry Christmas. Any one who sues for this is a jerk. Now I'm an agnostic and have no use for religion but the holiday is Christmas.
I don't blame liberals for it because a lot of them are against this nonsense. Most are spiritual and religious. I do blame the politically correct crowd because this is just stupid. Now the holiday just stands for greed. The commercials are telling you you should hint that you want a Lexus or a Lincoln.
It's time to tell retailers Christmas is the holiday I suggest you don't shop at places that are doing this. That's almost everyone this year. Maybe the bottom line will wake them up.

My friend died in a car accident a few years ago. We went to the same church since I've known him, which was for several years. It was such a shock when I found out about him. His funeral was painful; seeing his parents with such grief was almost unbearable. He was only 16 years old.

One night, I had a dream about him. I was crying and asked him how he was. "I thought you were dead," I said. He seemed to be bathed in this ethereal light, smiles abundant from him. He told me he was okay and not to worry about him.

I told a church member about this at a gathering after his funeral. He encouraged me to tell his mother. I did, and she began crying. She hugged me and thanked me a lot. I never had a dream about him again.

What do you all think? Was I just imagining things or was a higher power at work?

Isn't it interesting that Hollywood can make movies that are clean and fun and still make money?

Take Pirates of the Carribean 1, 2, &3, Superman, Spiderman 1, 2, & 3, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc. None of these movies had excessive violence, gore, sex, or bad language. You can take your seven year old to see it and not have to worry about explaining the "birds and the bees" to him afterwards. The whole family has fun, and Hollywood made a ton of money, seeing as how each of the films mentioned were blockbuster, smash hits.

Wouldn't it be nice if they kept making movies like this?
