Its that Bah humbug mentality going around this season. Make their life real miserable by giving them a big smile and say Merry Christmas.

Hm. Yeah, it does seem like people have lost all common decency.
I think a lot of it is due to the internet. People feel like they can just leave horrible comments to anybody and the other person won't care-- at least the perpetrator doesn't, since it's not as if they can actually see the other person reacting.
It really annoys me, though, when others act really condescending and ignorant when they're Christian. So many of the rude, ignorant people out there are Christians, and frankly, it's really downright embarrasing to have people who supposedly believe the same things that I do saying rude and really ignorant things "in the name of Christianity". Ergh.

It's a culture that does not believe the fact that everything has life. You need to respect life. But if you go through life believing that the only things alive are humans and that you can behave with disrespect to animals and plants and the planet in general then it won't be long before you believe that the only person that matters is you. You see things as if they are dead. Rocks are not alive, animals don't matter and their pain is of no consequence. Look at Michael Vick.
Psychopaths don't start off killing people they start by torturing bugs then animals then humans.
This insensitivity has brought on a group of people who lack even basic manners. They fail to notice,to hear to see beauty in life and they lack joy. Their life is filled with indifference. I like the line from A Color Purple.."I think God gets kind of mad when you walk past a field of purple flowers and don't notice their beauty."
Vick doesn't even get what he did is as horrible as it is. He sees them as just dogs. When a person looses his way this bad they need a life altering experience to bring them full circle. Their eyes have been closed for so long. Like Jules in Pulp fiction. Then he sees a miracle and changes his whole life. His eyes have been open.
The human race in general better start respecting each other and the planet. If they don't the Earth will spit them out like the dinosaurs. Life can only get better the better you treat others. If you find yourself unhappy go do something for someone else. Do something for anyone! You will feel good about it.
Remember "No man stood as tall as one who stoops to help a Child." Stop the indifference and the hate.

I think it is the people who are overworked and underpaid and the ones who know this but aren't doing anything about it are either the ones who it seems have to resort to rudeness just to get by or are just truly rude. Of this group, there are few who are hopelessly rude. So therefore, in light of this, there are, in theory, countless ways to deal with and get around those who are, insist on, or for some unfortunate reason are just in the pathetic habit of being rude.
SO CHEER UP!!!

People are consumed by their own self importance.

Everything is this day and age is about "me" and whats going to entertain, satisfy and better me. people just don't care if what they're doing effects those around them as long as they get what they want.

there are several things you can blame for the lack of common decency such a television, lack of good rol models and bad parenting but I wouldn't go blaming schools or teachers as they already have so much to deal with when it comes to monitoring and nuturing children.

Its because there is no sense of community anymore! Isn't funny how you can live in a place for years and years across the street from the same people, yet you hardly know them....
And people are rude because they are always in a hurry. Americans overschedule themselves and no one just takes time to relax and just think about the world they're living in. Its always "gotta go to this, gotta do that, hurry up, ..." blah blah blah!

Yes Betty, I agree with you. They most definitely are.
A too strong combination of pride, hurry, worry and fear. As long as you don't let too much of these 4 things rub off on you, you can be a cure, and not a person infected with this rudeness.

too many rats in the cage. You ever notice how people are freindly on the ski slopes, or when you see them on a hiking trail or wakeboarding at the river. They will wave and say hi. Then, when they get back to the grind they will flip you the bird on the freeway on your way to work. People, what can you do?

It's the speed in which everything is happening. People can't keep up and they are stressed. Inflation's on the rise people can't keep up. No job, more bills, people can't keep up. It's not everyone, but we all fall volunteer from time to time.
