This Scripture is found at 1 Corinthians 11:3.

"But I want YOU to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God."

So, the arrangement goes like this:
woman > man > Christ > God

My question is to those who believe Jesus is God. How would this arrangement be possible if Jesus is God? If Jesus is God, he wouldn't have to submit to ANYONE because he would be God and God is never submissive to anyone. How do you guys explain this one?

augustin: I can separate everything into 3 parts (and more). The chair I'm sitting on has a back, a seat, and legs. Trinitarians use the egg pretty often...the shell, the yolk, and the white.
But, you see, according to the Catholic Encyclopedia, "the trinity persons are co-equal, co-eternal. All alike are uncreated and omnipotent."
So, if they are equal and equally contribute to the one God then none can be greater than the other. Yet, in John 14:28, Jesus said, "the Father is greater than I am." This brings us back to the verse in my question. How could this be so when the trinity doctrine states that all 3 are equal?

Barry: You're saying our lofty Creator would become human and make himself lower than the angels to be on the level of man? (Hebrews 2:7) With all due respect, doesn't that sound absurd?
Ex. 33:20 clearly states that nobody is able to see God and yet live. When His presence was upon Mt. Sinai, the people were commanded not to even touch the edge of the mountain, otherwise they would die. (Ex. 19:12) This is because of God's superlative degree of holiness.
Now, would it make sense that this Spirit being would become manifest in the flesh to "be on the level of man", as you say? God would never level himself with man. In fact, by saying such a thing, we would be insulting God's universal supremacy! I have no right to interpret anything, as "interpretations belong to God." (Gen. 40:8)

When 1 John 5:7 says that the 3 are one, it doesn't mean that they are the same. When 2 people get married and become one, does that mean they become the same person? Of course not. Rather, they begin to live their lives in harmony with each other. In other words, they are in agreement.
Notice in John 10:30, Jesus said, "I and the Father are one," completely leaving out the 3rd component of the trinity.

If anyone would like to continue this discussion, please feel free to email, as this is not exactly the place for a debate. :) Thanks for all the answers thus far.

John 20:17, RS: “Jesus said to her [Mary Magdalene], ‘Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” (So to the resurrected Jesus, the Father was God, just as the Father was God to Mary Magdalene. Interestingly, not once in Scripture do we find the Father addressing the Son as “my God.”)

Matt. 20:20-23, RS: “The mother of the sons of Zebedee, said to him [Jesus], ‘Command that these two sons of mine may sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.’ But Jesus answered, ‘You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.’” (How strange, if, as claimed, Jesus is God! Was Jesus here merely answering according to his “human nature”? If, as Trinitarians say, Jesus was truly “God-man” both God and man, not one or the other would it truly be consistent to resort to such an explanation? Does not Matthew 20:23 rather show that the Son is not equal to the Father, that the Father has reserved some prerogatives for himself?)

The wise husband learns how to exercise headship by imitating his own head, Christ Jesus.

Jesus too has a head, Jehovah, and he is properly subject to Him. Jesus said: “I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.” (John 5:30) What an excellent example! Jesus is “the firstborn of all creation.” (Colossians 1:15) He became the Messiah. He was to be the Head of the congregation of anointed Christians and the chosen King of God’s Kingdom, above all the angels. (Philippians 2:9-11

Jesus is God in the flesh . God manifested it that way so He could be on the level of man . God is a Spirit ! 1 Corinthians 11 : 3 .. But I would have you know , the head of every man is Christ ; and the head of the woman is the man ; and the head of Christ is God . Simply put this verse simply means that Christ is at the head of all men , man is at the head of the woman , and God is at the head of Christ ! Christ is before man , man is before woman , and God is before Jesus in the flesh ! These are the ordinances ( rules ) of the church as stated in 11 : 1 - 2 , Which pertains on the order of worship , and the order of progression of the worship ! Jesus in man`s form on earth is submissive to God because he is as a man here , not as the Spirit in heaven . ** By your question , you have tried to interpret the truths of the Bible , with an earthly explanation . The Bible is far more complicated in it`s terminology , and it takes a great deal of time and effort to study and seek the true Godly meanings of God`s Word and His intention of how The Bible is to be studied ..

the main head is GOD who gave or supplies JESUS the authority to rule over guy.....(and woman) those verse could be present in Revelation. as long as there are fake teachings, those comparable questions will deceive maximum folk. So fairly of battling approximately what you think of you recognize, among yourselves, seek for the certainty. that's what God needs. not me. What component of the scripture is fake and the different be real? The Bible does not lie in one spot and tell actuality in yet another. there's a GOD. the daddy, The Son and the Holy Spirit. not multi function. in certainty God and the Son, the two have own names, while the spirit does not. good luck.

There is no Trinity in the Bible. And Jesus is the son of God. The Bible is the only truth. It doesn't say anything in the Bible about Trinity. This is where people get confused and why so many churchs are false. That is why I choose to be Spiritual, God and Jesus are in my heart, not in a church. Some churches talk about trinity and that is false. That is why more people should read the Bible cause that is where the truth is..... God Bless everyone

Jesus is the Son of God. why? because God said so.
it is the order of things.
read on and you will learn that a woman praying with her head uncovered(what is her head?man. ) then she dishonors her head(man) we must cover our head(man) to get to Christ so no we as women are not to go through man to get to Christ we must cover man to get to Christ. and the head of man is Christ but if man covers his head (Christ) then he dishonors his head (Christ) so it is harder for men because they are to walk, eat, sleep and every thing else in their life with their head (Christ) uncovered so that all can see that Christ is their head and when they pray to the father He sees that Christ is their head.
I know it is a lot to take in, It took me some time to understand but it is the order of things
if you really want people to think ask them what is the,
Holy Ghost?

Jesus is the Son of God.

To me the verse means that when you accept Jesus as your Savior, you represent Christ. God made man then woman. When you trust Jesus and accept him in your heart, you Go to heaven through Jesus to be with God.

I would have to read more than just that verse to understand all of it.

Paul is making an analogy here. This is about willingly submitting oneself to his/her head. Just as Christ submitted himself to the will of the Father, so we should also.

in this context "GOD" refers to the Father. think of ot like this. were made in the image of GOD. we have three parts; mind, body, and spirit. GOD also has three parts. Father (mind), Son(body) and Holy Ghost (spirit). in humans the body is submissive to the mind. its sort of the same with the Trinity.

You have to get back to the Trinity -God the Father, God the Son- (Jesus), and God the Holy Ghost.
