I've left an open challenge for one atheist here, and he has blocked me!

My goodness!

Atheists: can you tell me without being immature why atheists are so sure of their beliefs until they're challenged and then they put up the shielding?

You would think that, with all that reliance on reproducable science and non-reproducable religion that this would be a cakewalk for you guys!

All ideological fads eventually exhaust their credibility. In my judgment, the time is right for mounting an effective intellectual challenge to the greatest and most influential of the pseudosciences of modernism. -- Phillip Johnson

Darwinists of both the theistic and atheistic varieties are trained to assume the truth of the Darwinian theory as a matter of first principle.

Critics who ask whether the theory is true therefore seem to be misunderstanding some basic step in the reasoning. It is as if they were demanding to know whether truth is true. Hence the universal Darwinist response to such critics is to dismiss them because they do not understand "how science works."

I know all these, among other major faiths, have different histories, different stories, and their own unique claims about revelations of the divine.

But would you say that they all basically teach the same moral and ethical values?

I did when I was sleep a year ago when I noticed a strange glowing figure hovering above my bedroom. It was silverish and twisty looking and had no form. I thought I was seeing things but it was real because it had a brightness to it and I keep my bedroom completely dark when I go to sleep so it was not a refelction of light at all! Till this day I still wonder what it was.

Oh yeah, and does anyone know a purification spell, because I can't think up one and neither of my sisters, and well the internet just doesn't want to help. well anyway. If there is anyway you can help, that would be awesome. And no flames please, I'm just curious.

faith means believing in something without evidence or facts.

so why do atheists want proof of God?

whats wrong with taking a leap of faith?

why do you stay up so late on R&S?

I seriously mean no disrespect and have nothing against atheists as a group, but sometimes I think that maybe some atheists on here think they are a bigger group in the US than they really are. Do you ever get a somewhat skewed perception of just how large your group is by being on here where I would say the proportion of atheist to christians is more even?

I am making an assumption here that this person is an atheist, and I dont know for sure but she answered a question with this response

"I believe that even Hilary can win because people will vote AGAINST a fundie rather than FOR anyone.

Most of this country now sees all Christians as ignorant fundies"

I have to wonder if she realizes that most of the country is still christian and if sometimes atheists get a little distorted view of just how religious the country really is by spending time on this message board.

In Hellenic Polytheism we have a festival called Pyanopsia in honour of Apollo, which celebrates the harvest and gives its name to the month Pyanopsion, roughly October. It takes its name from the cooked beans served as part of the festival.

I make a Lentil Soup recipie for that festival.

Is there any particular recipie that you associate with a particular religious festival (like lamb for Easter/Passover)?

(2) Your broad and breezy reference to the "....corroboration [of macroevolution].....carbon dating, fossil discovery, biology, genetics..." suggests to me that your faith in Darwin still rests almost entirely on all those, "A long, long, long time ago, back when your great/great/great/great granddaddy swung from his tail through the jungle trees...", Little Golden Books you read in first grade.

I was raised Roman Catholic, even went to Catholic school...now I am at college and have discovered a true relationship with Jesus. I want to explain to my parents that I think Catholicism isn't enough, that there's more to the Bible and to Jesus with us than I'd been taught, but I'm really afraid of how they might take it--a rejection of their beliefs, an attack on their faith, etc...anyone been through anything like this, or have any suggestions? For what it's worth, I feel like I'm closest to Baptist, but would more just call myself a Biblical Christian...thanks!
