Family oriented movies make more money. PG13 movies and under make more money, but R rated movies make a lot of money, too, just not more. That is why they will continue to be made.
What is disturbing to me is how the limits are being pushed on pg 13 movies.
Take a movie like Transformers. Obviously aimed at kids, and yet it has the sh word over a dozen times. Why did they have to do that? Why does almost every pg 13 movie have to slip that one F bomb in?
It doesnt add anything to the movie and just makes our society worse. The language on little elementary school kids many times is just disgusting. Do we really want society to start cussing it up whenever they want? I really wonder how some of these kids that use a cuss word every other word are ever going to hold down a job.

I find it interesting that you start off commenting that Hollywood is capable of making movies appropriate for the whole family, then go on to list nine movies, of which I'd only allow my children to see ONE! The real point that you've made is how Hollywood has succeeded in causing the gradual decline in morality here without people even noticing it.

NO, they are riddled in witch craft and spells. If you must lump them all together. Add the Golden Compass to this list in a lump, too.
Spiderman was good, and even Superman. These are pretty good. The rest are not what I want my children to see. There are other good family movies that are not steeped in witchcraft and sex that have been made, that were good to watch. The Incredible Journey, White Fang, The Black Stallion. These kinds of movies are good. Then you got the Old version of the Ten Commandments, now that is a classic, and the Gospel of John. Those are good. And then you have the Veggie tales, those are great!!!

I would love it if they did, I like them as much as my kids. Just make sure the kids know it's not real but just good clean fun. Why wouldn't you want your kids to have an imagination? God gave them that.
* note* I didn't see the gore or bloody movies but what was wrong with superman? and Harry Potter is just FANTASY. It showed friendship but I hope people teach their kids that witchcraft in itself is wrong and don't let them watch this with out knowing reality from fiction. Do your kids know santa isn't real? Do they think their wish will come true when they blow their birthday candles out, is that evil?

Christians: isn't it interesting...?
Isn't it interesting that Hollywood can make movies that are clean and fun and still make money?
Answer: they could if they were not anti Christians Atheists and demon worshipers. They are promoting witchcraft and devil worship in response to the Jezebel Spirit (the mother of witchcraft and all whores).2 Kings 9:22
And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
2 Kings 9:30
And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.
2 Kings 9:36
Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:
2 Kings 9:37
And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
Revelation 2:20
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
Take Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, &3, Superman, Spiderman 1, 2, & 3, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc. None of these movies had excessive violence, gore, sex, or bad language.
Answer: but they glorify witchcraft and demonic spirits.
You can take your seven year old to see it and not have to worry about explaining the "birds and the bees" to him afterwards. The whole family has fun, and Hollywood made a ton of money, seeing as how each of the films mentioned were blockbuster, smash hits.
Answer: They degrade society and will cast your children into witchcrath and spirit worship which God will cast them into Hell and the Lake of fire with their Devil(Satan), the False Prophet and the Anti-christ.
Acts 13:6
And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
Revelation 16:13
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Revelation 19:20
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Revelation 20:10
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Wouldn't it be nice if they kept making movies like this?

Well many christians may disagree with you. Are you a christian? (just curious no offense meant btw...) Lets see, violence, murder - guns, knives, supernatural powers, witchcraft, idol worship....what else, umm prostitution...Also, I think you shouldn't be afraid to explain the birds and the bees to your child. You asked for opinions. Btw, I don't have a problem with any of these movies...Not sure about taking a seven year old...Even Mary Poppins had a little witchery...lol

So why can't they make a decent Christmas movie?
Why can't they make a movie that honors the troops?
Why can't they tell the story of a military hero?
The book "Lone Survivor" would be a great action flick and leave us with a fond feeling toward our special forces.

It is and they should. Most religious people have this idea that movies, TV shows, radio, newspaper, and other forms of media should conform to their ideology.
Just look at the catholic church how they cry like babies over movies like Dogma, The DaVinic Code, The Golden Compass and TV shows like,
South Park, Family Guy and The Simpsons.
The First Amendment says FREE SPEECH not selective speech.
Edit:
If someone does not like a movie fine do not watch it; HOWEVER, do not prevent others from wanting to watch it.

Why is this question only asked towards Christians? What does it have to do with religion?
Many of these "kids" movies have underlying references to sex, solely for adults to get either consciously or subconsciously. For example, look at the cover of The Little Mermaid. Look at the tall castle in the back- it is a penis. At the end of The Lion King, the stars spell out "sex".

The LoTR movies weren't for little kids. And they're FULL of violence, especially the last two.
Well they all contain violence to one extent or another, but those especially.
And why is this interesting?
