Hi, I always wanted a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and on some website there's this 36" statues for like only 220.00 dollars. If I get enough money, and maybe raise some, would you think they would let me get one? Its my dream to always get one.

Think about it. Peter denied Jesus three times and he still got to heaven. And he didn't even get $1 mil for that.

Hindsight being closer to 20/20, I have looked back upon my life. I used to be Christian and as such I was in denial about the reality of the world around me as many religious people are in varying degrees. One of the things that I have determined is that the denial I was in created a buffer that protected me from the often harsh reality of the universe, such as the finality of death and our collective 'aloneness'. That protection offered me a kind of personal peace which I found to be very attractive. Now that I am atheist I have found that I have less personal peace. Of course I wouldn't trade reality for denial simply to obtain that peace again, but my question to you is this.

Is that feeling common? Do you also find that reality brings less personal peace? And finally, do you also believe that the attraction of that personal peace through denial is what entices people to be drawn to and embrace theism?

If anything is truly the "anti-christ" it is fear. Any religion or organization that utilizes fear (manipulation, control of free will) to create a following, a data base, or structured organization should be thoroughly researched rather than blindly adopted through cultural or familial practice. If you feel the need to go to church out of a sense of unworthiness, lack, guilt, defeat, failure, hopelessness (FEAR BASED EMOTIONS) and/OR are following a religious structure that restricts your free will and ONLY ALLOWS room for their rules and doctrine, it is questionable at best.

So I have some Catholics telling me that Catholic doctrine is compatible with science (specifically heliocentrism and natural selection) while there are others who say that it isn't (namely the site to which I will refer you all).

Can any other lay Catholics tell me what the ACTUAL CATHOLIC CHURCH teaches concerning heliocentrism and natural selection? I want very specific answers with some kind of reference to the Catechism (or other actual church pronouncements). Also, if you could comment on the following site (briefly tell me if what they are saying is actual, infallible church doctrine or just the opinion of an uneducated person).

I ask this because I'm considering re-converting back to Catholicism, however if the church still insists on "young-earth theories", "intelligent design", and geocentrism then I will be a little reluctant to come back.

Thank You.

Even hasbro.com doesn't have it.
Has anyone been lucky enough to find one? Amazon.com has one but I am NOT paying $100 for a $30 game.

Reminds me of the Cabbage Patch craze in the 80's. Back then I had only one kid and was crazy enough to pay $150 for the coveted gift of all gifts.

Looking back now, I think "What the HELL were you thinking?"

Let Me start off by saying I am a Christian but by no means a fundamentalist. Honestly I don't care much for Organized Religion at all. Too much dogma for My benefit, but that's neither here nor there.
But what I want to know is this, what is this ongoing conflict between the Christians and Athesists accomplishing in here?
I'm very curious to know why Ya'll keep dragging it on and on. I really feel it makes both sides look bad.
I would truly enjoy being able to come to this section to ask an answer question in this section, but wise men fear to tread in here because of all the flying lead.
I just want to know....why this little mini war?
It's fine to try to talk and help people to believe that there is a God or isn't a God or whatever your Beliefs might be, but I doubt You are going to convert many people with howling negativity.

Please don't hate Me, I'm just curious about all this

A Guy walks into a bar with an octopus. He sits the octopus on a stool and announces that this is a very talented octopus, which can play any musical instrument in the world.
Everyone laughs at the man, calling him an idiot. So he says that he'll wager £50 to anyone who has an instrument that the octopus can’t play.
A guy walks up with a guitar and puts it beside the octopus. Immediately the octopus picks up the guitar and starts playing better than Eric Clapton. The guitar man pays up his £50.
Another guy comes up with a trumpet. This time the octopus plays like Miles Davis.
This guy pays his £50.
Then a Scotsman hands over a set of bagpipes. The octopus fumbles with it for a minute and then sits down with a confused look.
"Ha," the Scot says. "Can ye no play it?" The Octopus looks at him and says: "Play it? I’m going to make love to it as soon as I figure out how to get these pyjamas off..."

Ok so this is about those people who come door to door selling bibles, and trying to convert you to their religion.
They won't leave me alone! I've told them nicely that I'm not interested but they just keep coming back, and pressuring me to cross over. What can I do??
