In a secular society, there is no 'one religion'.

It has become common to use 'CE' (common era) instead of 'AD'

(Anno Domini - 'in the year of our Lord')

Do you think people should still use 'In The Year Of Our Lord' whether or not they follow Jesus? Or do you think 'Common Era' is more reasonable in a secular society?

Or do you see secularism as a threat to your religion's influence in the world around you?

Leviticus 12 (KJV)

"1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

3And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

4And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.

5But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.

6And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

I am currently working on a story about the Peace Corps in Bulgaria and I need to get in touch with volunteers or organizators. I already contacted some people, but I still want to get in touch with former volunteers.

Thanks in advance

Did anyone else get told the story of how St Nicholas saved some kids who had been cut up and put in a barrel by restoring their form, and then take it as true without questioning it?

Looking back on it I really should've asked "How?" a lot more when I was younger. Anyone else feel somewhat embarrassed about how naive and gullible you are as a kid?

I mean let's face it, you get the same answers over and over and over again and get mad when we give mean answers. Shouldn't you maybe focus on asking deeper questions about religion instead of these generic no brainers?

How about you guys spend more time questioning your own beliefs and asking questions about the cultures that created your current belief structures?
For instance
Where does the term "Satan" originate and what did it mean to Ancient Jews and how did it evolve from a cultural standpoint as well as an Entymological standpoint. Ex. How did the term Satan become "Lucifer"

Or how about, what Theistic beliefs originated Pre dating Judaism and what do the terms Elohim and Yahweh really mean? and what did they mean to ancient cultures? And who did these beings represent to the Nomadic tribes?

Mine was when Dorothy Collins pulled (rather, pushed the car) into a filling station and asked them to check the oil. When the attendant lifted the hood, there was no engine.

I don't enjoy it when anyone knocks on my door to sell anything.

What I was wondering is, do JW's realise that if they didn't set out 'till noon. They would have less chance of being sworn at, and less chance of seeing me naked?

Or is there something in the Watchtower that specifies waking people up?

If you cop oput and answer, "Rightly divide the word of God blah blah" or "Some of it isn't meant for Chilldren Blah Blah" then I submit to you that:

If it isn't 100% "fit for children to read" then why should it be considered a "moral guide post"?

Okay, I asked a question a day ago about the use of the word obeisance in the Greek Scriptures.

Many of the witnesses who responded said the the greek word Proskyneo which is sometimes translated worship, can be used to signify respect such as the "kissing of ones hand".

I FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF THIS.

Assuming that the word Proskyneo is translated wither "worship" or "obeisance". This is what I have found:

The word "worship" appears 36 times in the NT of the New World Translation. Of the 35 times "proskyneo" was translated worship, There is NO INSTANCE where the word was not used to denote actual "worship", rather it be to God or to a false god.

I also found that the word Proskyneo was translated "obeisance" 19 times in the NT. Of those 19 times 16 of these were directed towards Jesus. The remainding 3 were as follows:
1 to Jehovah
1 Cornelius to Peter (Where Peter told him "Do not do that")
1 Those from Synogogue of Satan to Congregation Of Philidelphia

I've often seen and heard muslims(including me) complaining about being stereotyped and generalised by the west..But, i've also noticed a strong prejudice among many muslims(no offence meant to anyone) against Jews and natives of Western countries..Sometimes it is all based on some unpleasant experience & at other times, on hearsay..My question is, how can we judge a whole group of perhaps a million people with just a handful of persons to base our opinions on?Aren't we doing the same thing which we hate being done on us?
Again,i'd like to stress the fact that not all muslims feel like this..however, i'd like to hear your opinion about this..
