It seems to me many think they are Christians and according to history or at least the show I am watching says that the Gospels were actually Jewish.

Just wondering.

who can handle the slightest bit of rationality or logical understanding?

I just asked this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ajp5hCLS38oy5QkkaE.bXPvsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071125091706AAkjJTF

and i got back "What's the question?" plenty of times.

now either you wasted your time reading everything i wrote down and not even consider applying your own "thoughts" or you're wasting my time right now writing out this question.

It was a question, but also a topic of discussion and if you can't understand it, then why say anything at all? and if you didn't read it, then you would be better off taking a bat to the head a couple times just to finish the job.

This IS A question, but try usin your mind (whatever's left of it at least) and use it to figure it out.

I mean, sure...even if there were only 10,000 planets capable of sustaining life in each of the 80,000,000,000 galaxies in the observable universe (of which we are directly in the middle, may I remind you), and at least that many planets have existed since the universe cooled enough for galaxies to form 14,000,000,000 years ago, and each electrochemical reaction could potentially be the spark from which abiogenesis occurred, meaning that there have been trecentillions of trecentillions of trecentillions of chances for life to occurr (and chances are that that's a conservative estimate), only God Himself could have created life on this planet.

There is statistically no possibility that life could have even had a chance of starting to even create tiny, microscopic life anywhere in this 28-gigaparsecs-across universe of ours.

So in the face of all the evidence, how come you atheists still don't believe in my God out of the approximately 2500 currently known gods? How? Please tell me!?

Recent questions have revolved around how many Christians are in prison. Never mind that the truthfullness of the responses can not be scientifically verified. To carry on this numbers game, note that the prior questions left out that 22% of the inmates did not respond. Now who would more likely not fill in questions about religious affiliation? Hmmmm....

Guess what. I'm not stupid enough to say that it is atheists, Christians, or any other group for that matter. Can we keep our communications free of insults, debasing, and gloating?

In Samkhya Yoga philosophy, a "life" comes into being, when a "Buddhi" - the repository of all of ones past karma - enters into a "can be life form": a mothers egg. These con-joined items, then become "one".

The question as I see it, then becomes at what moment in time, does this con-joinment occur?

Which raises the question of , when and if an unwanted pregnantcy should be terminated?

In yoga, the heart, its beating, signifies the presence of life. My contention thus becomes that an abortion could be sanctioned prior to any beat of the heart.

An M.D. responded, when I had asked him the question of "when does the heart first begin to beat during gestation"?: "it's difficult to determine".

The current scientific belief is that, its detection is not possible until after the 1st trimenster.

It is therefore my belief, that abortion should be sanctioned up to the end of the 1st trimester, but not afterwarads.

Agree, or disagree: substantiate the position you take

I need time to just THINK. I need to plan my life and my philosophies. Understand where I am coming from and where I am going. In this day and age how does one do that? I am 26 and have a daughter. I am a graduate but in debt. I just need to get away from it all and plan my life all out. How can I get to do this? I need a LONG time.
People spend weeks planning birthday parties. I need a bit longer than that to plan my LIFE.

I am not Catholic, nor have I had much exposure to the faith, and there are some general questions I have.

Although it's a faith that I don't necessarily agree with, I am not here blasting anyones choice, this is just simply a set of questions.

1. Why do you pray to/through Mary? I mean, she had to be, no doubt, and very virtuous woman to be chosen for the task, but nowhere in the Bible do I see that we're supposed to pray to her.

2. What's up w/the confessionals? God saved us from our sins, never to return. I realize that someone might stumble, but knowing you can sin and confess seems like it's not sincere and really taking advantage of the mercy of God. Plus, what exactly are "Hail Mary's", and what is their purpose.

3. I know physically what a rosary is, but what are their purpose or how are they used.

4. What's up w/the Pope, what is his job, isn't that manrule? Please explain his relation with the church.

5. How do are Conservative Catholics different?

Thanks for your time

Why, when someone seeks genuine help and is in pain, do some of us in R&S offer answers which are hurtful, cruel, mocking, or at the least, unhelpful? This is disgraceful behavior. What can we as a community do to stop it?

I give you the majority of the responses to this question as examples of what I'm angry about: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aun2Hkh_fZcq_7dB942c7fXsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071125084952AAKI7yP&show=7#profile-info-f5bda725fb7b6136917e7a5e56006d49aa

I don't see why people with religions have to try to convince others or even kill others over religion. I mean, you said so when "judgment day" comes we'll all be damned(the non-believers or whatever), so be it. Just wait for that day and let peace resume. Why do people have to go all out of the way and bomb/kill(whatever).And why exactly is god a HE? Why not SHE? Or it?

My 15 year old cousin died the day before Thanksgiving in a terrible car accident and I'm having a hard time dealing with it. Because of my religion (LDS) I have no problem knowing that I will see her again, but I just can't seem to forget. I'm worried about her family, especially her father, and I don't know how i'm going to be able to handle her funeral on thursday. How were you comforted by a family member's death?

There are a lot of gay men and women in the Christian Church who are denying their true nature.

And here's what happens:

When someone cannot control something they do not like about themselves (in this case, homosexual desires) they tend to compensate by trying to over-control those people around them.

Can this kind of self-loathing that leads to religious fervor?

least religious countries in the world.

1. Sweden (up to 85% non-believer, atheist, agnostic)
2. Vietnam
3. Denmark
4. Norway
5. Japan
6. Czech Republic
7. Finland
8. France
9. South Korea
10. Estonia (up to 49% non-believer, atheist, agnostic)

Surprisingly, number 19th was Israel with 37% claiming to be non-believers. The United States ranked 44th. The survey concluded that "high levels of organic atheism are strongly correlated with high levels of societal health, such as low homicide rates, low poverty rates, low infant mortality rates, and low illiteracy rates, as well as high levels of educational attainment, per capita income, and gender equality. Most nations characterized by high degrees of individual and societal security have the highest rates of organic atheism, and conversely, nations characterized by low degrees of individual and societal security have the lowest rates of organic atheism. Are you surprise ?

Should that also include, how we treat others here?

So other may see Jesus in us?

Hi.
I've been living in the U.S. for 3 years now and i am a sophomore in public high school.
I've been memorizing vocabularies and i am feeling like i m lacking in one part of the vocabulary.
That's the adjectives. When i read the book, there are so many adjectives that i seem not to understand.
And it seems like those adjectives appear frequently on the readings.
So is there a website where i can find most frequent adjectives in the reading?
I am not saying i dont know words like wonderful, cute, little, etc.
Not those, but pretty challenging and intermidiate level of adjectives. Thanks.
