Recent questions have revolved around how many Christians are in prison. Never mind that the truthfullness of the responses can not be scientifically verified. To carry on this numbers game, note that the prior questions left out that 22% of the inmates did not respond. Now who would more likely not fill in questions about religious affiliation? Hmmmm....
Guess what. I'm not stupid enough to say that it is atheists, Christians, or any other group for that matter. Can we keep our communications free of insults, debasing, and gloating?

So since "they never thought about the issue" is it still valid to put down that you are Christian or whatever?

"Maybe they do not respond for fear of religious persecution?" Then you are saying that the atheist percentage is higher than what is reported?

"Real Nice? When you come into a discussion in the middle, sometimes you don't know what's going on. "You talk like atheists are a diaspora." I'm not the one in prior questions saying they account for only 0.209% in prison. Reading comprehension would also allow you to know I think all questions of this type are ridiculous. It is also Real Nice to blow off your steam about "religious people." Those of us who are more knowledgeable should show them the correct way. I think God would be more pleased with that than having us think they are derogatory. I forgive your misunderstandings.

The point is none of us knows who composes that non-responding 22%, so let's not gloat about percentages of inmates from another group. Besides that we do not even know who is answering the questionaires honestly, or the motives behind the answers. Nuff said on this?

Actually, I believe that a very small percentage of people in prison are atheist. It is more probable with the anti- Muslim attitude in the U.S. today that many who do not answer are Muslims.
I would also counter that many in prison "find God" right before they are set to go in front of the parole board.
Might have less to do with a true religious conversion and more to do with trying to get out of jail.

It's most likely a mix of religions. There are probably SOME Christians that didn't answer, some Jews, some Muslims, some atheists, etc. The people from that 22% would probably raise each of the numbers slightly. It most likely wouldn't make a big difference in the results.

Maybe they do not respond for fear of religious persecution? Atheists are in danger in the general population - imagine admitting you are an atheist in a setting where the Christians around you are murderers, rapists, and other violent criminals? It's also not safe to be a Muslim - perhaps not even to be Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, or Wiccan - in prison either.

" the missing atheists ? " You talk like atheists are a diaspora strewn across the world...carried away captive by Titus in 70 AD away from Atheistville.
Im not being sarcastic. i respect your rights...but to be totally honest...this question is so rediculous. One would wonder what goes on in your brain. Ive met many " religious folk " who wouldnt answer that question either. To us that word is a degrading label. It isnt religion but rather relationship with a living person. I dont attend ANY Church but I have a deep and enchanting faith in Jesus. I saw him. Hes real and not religious either.

Those who are ashamed of what they have done and do not want to face the question of if yo were a Christiana why did you do that. Also I think the awkward ones who say mind you own business, you've got my body here but that does not mean I have to answer your questions

The ones who did not fill in the question are most likely people who have never thought about the issue.
If they were pressed to do so, we can reasonably expect to see that their percentages would match the prison population that did complete the survey.

Not very likely.
Considering the ignorance surrounding Christianity, I think anyone should be ashamed to admit to being a Christian.

They probably worship the Yamster, which is close enough to gerbil looking to be a bad idea to mention it in that particular place.
