There are a lot of gay men and women in the Christian Church who are denying their true nature.

And here's what happens:

When someone cannot control something they do not like about themselves (in this case, homosexual desires) they tend to compensate by trying to over-control those people around them.

Can this kind of self-loathing that leads to religious fervor?

Yes, probably. I've never understood people who are born gay and choose to be a Christian. You can control your religion, but you can't control whether or not you're gay. Why not choose a more accepting religion? That's a really interesting question. I have heard of gay Christians who are happy, or who have started their own church in order to be accepted. I wonder how others' attitudes affect them, and if they've ever even thought of choosing a path that's more accepting of them.

I agree with Jcman. The bible considers homosexuality to be a sin, but so is stealing. If the gay person controls his/her sexuality so as not to act on it (sin) and ask for forgiveness then s/he will be forgiven. We’re all sinners that need forgiveness and we have to power to control our choices. I think it’s sad to deny yourself love, but you can focus on God’s divine love towards you and that might make it easier. Now letting there emotions express in a negative way is also a sin and they should find a positive way to express themselves.

What i think about homosexuality is that its just another part of the sin nature...nothing more. Yes it is more serious offense to ppl, but to God sin is sin, theres no greater-than-the-other thing, its just sin. Like a baby knows naturally how to lie, other babies are naturally attracted to the same sex....its all part of the sin nature

so no Gay Christians aren't going to hell because God forgives all sin and homosexuality isnt even an "unforgivable" sin....they're still saved by God for having justification by faith, its the same thing with a guy who killed someone....he may have killed someone, but thats not unforgivable and if hes a Christian he's still saved

They are headed in that direction unless they repent.

Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." (NIV)
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (NIV).

How can anyone overcome their sinful nature without God. Gay Christians are no different, all Christians are sinful and need to let God take over, whether your gay, an adulterer or have a compulsive eating disorder. Surrender it to God..
