i believe in God. i do not believe in the christian god. Big Bang/ 7 Days... i wasn't there but whatever the Source, is what i choose to call God.

i do not even know if God has a consciousness or a reason. I only know that It Is. this includes that It Has Been and Continues To Be.

these are biblical references, i know, but they are logical to me.

My question, even atheists can contribute, i believe if they can assume my definition of God is merely the Source of all things, is what can we ALL agree on regarding the nature of God?

not what's out of a book or relates to our personal relationship with our percieved Maker.

it simply goes without saying that, since God laid down the foundation for mathematics, physics, gravity, and other natural laws, such things as friction or atmospheric pressure are merely evidence of this Source. it also goes without saying that any idea that conflicts with Natural Law can be understood as false.

What is the difference between what Saul did in 1 Samual 28 (Going to the Woman at Endor and seeking the guidance of the Prophet Samuel) and what Catholics do to Mary and the "Saints" (Praying to them for guidance)? Clearly, Samuel was dead and in the grave, and he is also a Saint, but Saul should not have done what he did, right? Are we not also commanded to abstain from divination and necromancy (communication with the dead)? --Deut. 18:9-12. Do we not ourselves become necromancers when we attempt to communicate with dead? I know that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living, but that doesn’t fit the context of what I am asking. There is a clear distinction between those that are physically alive and those that are physically dead in the Bible. And we are commanded not to try to speak or communicate with those that are physically dead. It is considered witchcraft, and it is an abomination before God. So, why do we attempt to contact physically dead saints?

I don't just mean biblically, but what do you believe. Do you think time is the same there? What do you do for eternity? Are there buildings or structures? What do spirits look like?

I have a very curious question. There is something illogical in what the Christians say about Christ. They say that he is actually God who came to earth as a man, then died a very excruciating death in the cross to save mankind!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the logic in this. It sounds so absurd! If I were God I would appear to man and say YO THERE ALL YOU SINNERS, BEHAVE OR ELSE, that would have made this place a lot more safer than it is now.

No, I think this whole story of Christ dying to redeem us sounds so silly that that any rational person cannot accept it.

Had the story been something very simple, for example he was an ordinary man who came as a PROPHET of God to in fact teach us and guide us, who unfortunately was murdered by his own people who knew better!

Now this is simple and plausible.

Anyone care to provide more insight into this.

Please I don't want to see anyone attacking anyone else here.

Cheers.

Can we learn a valuable lesson from the interaction between these two regulars, one a Christian, the other an Atheist, on the correct way to answer each others questions with respect, eloquence, and heartfelt compassion?

Thank you for your time.

God is everything. You, me, everything that exists, is God. God created the natural laws that make it possible for water to evaporate and then rain down on fields that desperately need it. God is the cause of every hurricane and flood. You are God. You are the world. Everything is made of physical laws and energy and matter.

What if we were all made of fire? We are already made of the same things on a very basic level. Imagine that the air around you and everything that exists is all made of fire. Are you a small piece of fire? No! You and the rest of the fire are one and the same; God is fire and you are God.

This has been an exposition of my romanticized view of pantheism. Many authors have written about pantheism and other forms of non-theistic spirituality. But what do you think of this belief? As an atheist, is it compatible with your belief that there is no God? As a theist, is it compatible with your belief that there is a God?

I believe that there is a higher power being that of god, but i dont pray to him, i pray to my grandfather who passed away when I was very very young. I believe my grandfather is my guardian angel that watches over me. Yes i believe in angels. Kinda like my grandfather helps the big guy. I go to him first as my angel then "HIM". I guess you could say im more spiritual than religious unless there is a religion that believes this way? Any suggestions on what I could research to see what I am? Are there others like me?
A friend told me that some native american tribes are like this, but there are also some that believe there is the spirit of animals and nature. Im not native american and the way i feel has nothing to do with spirits of animals or nature....? I dont know what to even begin to look up...

I've seen people ask questions about homosexuality and what it says in the Bible and some so-called Christians will say "I don't think God cares who you lay with"
Do you think people today actually read the Bible and follow what it says or do they just pick and choose what they want to read? I was under the impression that you followed what the Bible says and not just pick and choose. I didn't think God has changed His mind on all this stuff. It seems to me He was pretty clear.
So do you think people actually follow what the Bible says or do they try to make it into something more to their liking?

about "Tom". The statement "I can't believe in a god that would allow" -innocent people being killed by His will., Or-by a God that would allow war, famine, floods, hurricanes, etc.etc. Since you can't accept or believe in God, who or what is to blame for such things? Mankind? If you feel it's due to mankind, then you obviously can't blame God. If there is no such thing as God, God can't be faulted or blamed for anything. If plants, animals, and eventually man, are all due to evolution-how did evolution start and why? Following the line of evolution=man coming about by such, why isn't the starting point of man (evolution) accountable for mans actions? You reject a God that would allow such. If evolution, cosmic forces-whatever, is to be credited, shouldn't the opposite hold true too? Some brought chemistry, science, biology, etc. into the equation. How, why, did such come into being? If reasons/blame for problems has to go somewhere, where does it go? To a God that doesn't exist??

I sometimes slip english words or propositions without realizing it. Of course, I didn't forget the language. But I'm so used to English, living in an English speaking country. That happens especially when I'm tired. Do you think that is embarassing or I should apologize for it?

This is one of my pet peeve's! I guess for alot of people, they substitute these others words because of a lack of education in they're background. I know I have a neighbor and last week he was outside with some friends, and I had my door open because it was nice. And settting in our living room I must have heard the MF words about 40 times in the course of an hour! I wanted so bad to go next door and ask him, is you name MF? Because he calls everything that! Not to mention the fact that he was talking real loud and obviously I did not like the fact that my 13 year old was hearing this lovely word used at nausim! Anyone else relate to this, or know a friend or neighbor like mine maybe?
