As a Christian I would say that every human being has evil inside their hearts.
No single raindrop ever blamed itself for the flood.

The music you listen to has very little to do with it.

Most people have gotten past the ideology that Black Metal is evil. That was a myth created back 30 years ago, and true, some older people still think that .. but the reality is .. most people know that's bogus.

Anyway, I don't think a church would care, and I don't think society would really care.

You're biggest challenge is that most people now days aren't into any sort of metal and they like RAP.. (Don't ask me why?) so you may find people look down on you for liking a music that isn't really in right now, but otherwise, I don't think you'll have a problem.

You will find that people are called 'lost, evil, unsaved' etc because they aren't following the accuser's religion. That is an important point. Just 'any' religion won't cut it...

As for the music, it usually depends how militant the accuser is.

For instance, many Islamic people claim that music is forbidden. No, not just 'black metal', I mean 'music'.

As for society, it entirely depends where you live.

As for me? I just think 'Black Metal' is often intensely childish.

It's great for teenagers, you know, a sanctuary for the picked-on geek in which to stew and plot occult revenge, to fantasize about massacring his classmates, while wearing Judge Dredd boots and a leather trenchcoat in Mid-June.

Like, sooooo totally edgy dude.

But some twenty or thirty-somethings think that upside down crucifix's and much mention of genitals and sub-par Lovecraftean lyrics is somehow 'dark and edgy'.

Plus most all of them try sing like the Cookie Monster. How scary is that?

So-called 'National Socialist Black Metal' (NSBM) is moronic, hateful, destructive and needs a good smack.

Is 'Opeth' Black Metal'? They're good...

I have known so many teens over the years who have gotten into black metal, then outgrew it. But it served a useful purpose in letting them know it was ok to be themselves and not part of the herd.

I've been to hundreds of concerts, and at the metal concerts have overheard many teens discussing how this or that band brought them out of their shell.

I don't think any music is evil. Some turns my stomach, like what Nashville's done to country music, but it's not evil.

Evil is men who twist and use the bible and god to their own use and cause and hurt innocent people. I will tell you something a wise angel told me. Dark is dark and light is light, dark is not evil and light is not evil but both can do evil. Light can twist god and hurt and maim and kill and thats evil and dark can do the same, judge ye not the affiliation but the action. You are not evil and the part of society that thinks so should be educated or ignored, peace to you .

I don't think you're evil.

It isn't what one reads, eat, listens to, or watches that makes one evil. It's what one DOES.

I may not be a huge fan of black metal, but I do like some metal. And I'm not evil.

Listening to a certain genre of music does not make you evil, but the music you listen to certainly might be. Remember, words have the power to influence, so if you are constantly listening to evil music, you can be influenced by it. Richard Ramirez, the satanic 'night stalker' serial killer was influenced by the band AC/DC. (The Highway To Hell album, in particular. His favorite song? Night Prowler) Music can influence you. So I would say don't listen to it, because it has the power to corrupt you. But listening to the music in and of itself doesn't make you evil.

just because you listen to black metal and aren't very religious doesn't make you evil. its the things people do that make them evil. not their beliefs or lifestyle.

No matter what you listen to or if you are religious, a nerd whatever it is...if someone is evil they are and that's it. If it was that easy we probably would be able to control crime alto better than we can now.

No.

The music you listen to isn't going to cause you to be evil and not being very religious is probably going to make you quite a bit prone to evil.
