what about people who did die in the crash? And if God wanted you to live, wouldn't it be easier to just not have the plane crash in the first place?

I know there are atheists, but this is how I see the question:
It would seem that animals are the only ones without any sense of the transcendant.

People get passionate over art, politics, economic models, philosophical ideas, we hold beliefs for the future and we get impassioned with ideas and we seem to have a very deep need to have a sense of purpose in our lives which transcends rationality. Whether or not we express this purpose in metaphysical terms or not, it would seem to me that a person without any sense of meaning beyond the material world would be a brute.

So is it possible? Can one truly be without religion?

Please list just the number of the commandment in the 10. Adultery is not homosexuality as it only applies to those having sexual relations outside their marriage. In states where gay marriage is legal and two people who are homosexual are married, this would not constitue adultery. And please, no answers that say, 'Its not in the 10, but..." Just give me the number of the commandment. If there is none, why is this made such a big deal of by the fundamentalists?

I went to a baptist church and the pastor preached repent and
no baptizem are holy spirt.Just repent and follow Jesus
and believe in the crucifixtion and death and God raised the Lord from the dead. That is some of the Gospel Jesus said
to fullfill all that is rightious.Don't believe some of the truth
believe all of the truth. If you deny his word you deny him
then at the day of your jugdement he will deny you.

I'm an American woman living in Manila. My husband is Filipino. I have learned about and tried to practice and respect customs and culture. I know I haven't gotten everything right and have made many mistakes but I am trying. It's been a difficult but manageable situation until six weeks ago when my husband had a stroke that left him disabled and me having to frequently interact with his family. Meetings to discuss the situation have been disastrous and I've left crying. I can't seem to get it right and I'm about ready to pack it in and back go home. I've never felt so devalued or disrespected, like a useful object not a human being. I am taking good care of their brother and son on my own. They do not help. I haven't asked for money although they know my husband didn't have much of his own and that I am starting to sell things like my car to pay his medical bills. They are not poor. What could I have done to be held in such low regard? How can I make this better?

An encyclopedia of Biblical theology reads:
“The Jewish doctrine of salvation… is based on the fundamental assumption that man has within himself the possibility of fulfilling the law, and he who has fulfilled the law is righteous. Justification is therefore the work of man himself and is, in the strictest sense of the term, his own merit.”

Is this a true statement? If not, then what is? Any other relevant comments?

I view them in about the same light...

do what you want in your own house, (or in this case even church)

but quit doing it in public, and don't force it on anyone to see it, or participate...

enough said?

If so where can I find it? And what is it saying about them? I ask because my mother told me that the bible does in fact mention Dino's. I myself have never read the bible and have only recently just started. I find the more I read, the more questions I have.

Suppose you have a friend who isn't saved. He won't believe w/o some solid proof. Is a fib all right?

A little fib like "I heard Jesus's voice speak to me once in church, and He told me this was the right church for you,"

or "I once asked for a sign from God, and right then a white dove flew in the window of the church"?

You're pretty sure that once he comes to your church and hears the preacher, he'll be saved, but ... is it ok to stretch the truth a little to get him into church in the first place?

isn't really a religion, but a "relationship" with christ....couldn't one just as easily make the claim that atheism isn't really a religion, but a relationship with "no higher power in particular"????

live in? SO many atheist complain about churches not paying taxes. I think they have incomplete info. CHurches pay taxes on their phone bills, electric, and gas bills. They also pay for permits, and inspecions. They do not pay property tax and they do not pay corporate income taxes because they are tax exempt. Pastors are taxed- just like you and me.
