Please list just the number of the commandment in the 10. Adultery is not homosexuality as it only applies to those having sexual relations outside their marriage. In states where gay marriage is legal and two people who are homosexual are married, this would not constitue adultery. And please, no answers that say, 'Its not in the 10, but..." Just give me the number of the commandment. If there is none, why is this made such a big deal of by the fundamentalists?

The seventh commandment covers "in principle" ALL FORMS of illicit sex, including male and female homosexuality—now an ENORMOUS SIN in the Western world. Marriage is in God’s sight such a precious, righteous, holy thing that it must not be defiled! The meaning of marriage and its great purpose in God’s plan needs desperately to be understood in this age of unhappy marriages and broken homes.

In the Bible, what are commonly called the "10 Commandments" are only the first of 614 laws. Note that nowhere in the Bible are those first ones refered to as the "10 Commandments". That is something that Christian theologians did centuries later. Before that time, all 614 commandments were treated with equal weight. That includes the ones forbiddening homosexual relationship.

To say it has to be in the first 10 to count is like say that if it is not in the First Admendment of the Consititute then it does not count. If that were true, then homosexuals would lose their right to argue that their lifestyle is protected by "due process" and other rights guaranteed in those later amendments.

If you are going to make an argument using the Bible, you have to use it all - not just 10 verses you happen to like.

Why do Christians make such a big deal of it? Because at this time the homosexual minority is forcing the issue. They are attempting to their sin and turn it into an acceptable "alternative lifestyle" and get legal protect for it (when it is still a crime in many states and communities - figure that one out....).

If you do not want the Christians making such an issue of it, then stop attempting to force in on to society. Then the Christians will not have to spend so much time fighting it.

It's not explicitly stated in the commandments. The reason some Christians are so strongly opposed is because of verses such as those in Leviticus which quite clearly condemn homosexuality. Christians who oppose homosexuality have interpreted such verses to mean that homosexuality is a major sin and while many no longer feel it should be punished by death, they want it to be illegal (obviously, they also support a connection between church and state, but that's another matter entirely). That said, I don't agree with this reasoning, but I don't think that you can really say the Bible isn't a homophobic text. You pretty much answer your own question when you call them fundamentalists because fundamentalists tend to adhere very strictly to religious texts.

It is not in the 10 commandments. It is in the ordinances that go along with the 10 commandments. The 10 commandments is a very minute part of the Law of Moses. It is not to Christians today because it was finished when Jesus died on the cross.

Today, we are under the law of grace. That is contained in the New Testament beginning in Acts. The new law does not contain but 9 of the 10 commandments found in the old law.

Where did you get the idea condemnation of homosexuality would be in the 10 commandments, anyway?

You have to read the whole bible to understand. In Genesis, God destroyed Sodom and Gamorra because there were men having abomination with men. Paul had to send a letter to a church in Greece because they had homosexuality going on. They didn't put it in the ten commandments because they already knew that was an abomination and after Sodom and Gamorra, they got the point.

Of coarse if anyone actually reads this they'll give me a thumbs down and think of me as a homophobe, which is not true. By the framework of your question your mind is already made up and you really aren't looking for a real answer. So pick the one that best agrees with you. Have fun.

That's like asking "which of the 1st 4 commandments forbids murder"

In Exodus 20, the commandments begin with the 1st 10 and then there was an interruption. But those were not the only commandments.

Keep reading and see what Exodus 21 has to say. How to treat human property, where to go if God makes you murder, when to kill your kids, how hard to stone each other during arguments, how many days you can knock out your slave and get away with it, how much it costs to beat up pregnant women, how many shekels you can get for a bull-gored slave, how to get your own dead ox or donkey. But still nothing about homosexuals.

So keep reading. Exodus 22: when you can kill invading thieves, you have to pay for virgins, don't be a witch, or have sex with animals, or sacrifice to other gods, or mistreat aliens, or take advantage of widows and orphans, or charge interest, or blaspheme God, or curse your ruler, or keep your firstborn sons, cattle, or sheep, or eat roadkill.

Still nothing about gays. Keep reading...

There are a lot of things not mentioned in the ten commandments. Taking secret photos of little kids and posting them on the internet isnt in the ten commandments. Is it ok to do that?

There is enough in the Bible for christians to claim that marriage should be between a man and woman and that homosexuality is wrong. It doesnt have to be specifically in the ten commandments.

You are absolutely right. None .. It is not in the 10 Commandments. So it's not , raping a child .. So all you pedophiles and sexual predators out there have another justification for your imoralities and evil crimes and child pornography.. We all are sinners , and I don't believe Homosexuality is worst than adultery.. Sins are sins baby.. I am a sinner and I am not gay.. I don't have the right to judge you or think God will prefer me over you , just because I am straight.. But let's be real... When we do something we know it's not right, we know it, we just choose not to change it.. And we are all like that.. So just accept your reality or change it , you can , I can.. We all could.. or just live like this all your life. Someday we all will have to face up to our choices .. But just know that not everything that feels good is good...and that God loves us all and if we repent and try to change he will take us.. Wish you the best.. Love to everyone and everybody..

There are more than ten commandments. 613 to be exact. The 'ten' are among the first written specifically for Israel.
God gives commandments within scripture which was passed through oral tradition before Moses and the written law.
Scripture talks about Abraham keeping them and he was before Moses.

Genesis 1:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Genesis 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

There are numerous passages concerning homosexuality in the bible and it is always condemned.

It is not listed in the 10 commandments. However, it is stated in several other passages including specifying that the punishment for acts of homosexuality is death.

Of course, if you don't agree you can always either choose to not be a Christian, or follow one of those sects that selectively ignores the parts of the Bible it doesn't agree with.
