Or only partially?

The question dedicated to Mr. TT.

2007-11-02 03:20:51 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

My husband and I (ages 22 and 23) are pregnant with our first child. My husband was raised as a Jehova's Witness, and I was raised in a laid-back Christian, but non-church-going family. My family loves God and we pray every day and celebrate Christmas and other religious holiday's, etc. Jehova's Witnesses, however, do not believe in celebrating ANYTHING- no birthdays, and absolutely no holidays. My husband has not been to the Kingdom Hall ("church" for Jehova's Witnesses) in a few years but he wants us to start going now, and wants the baby to be raised as a Witness. I have mixed feelings about this and do not want my child to never experience Christmas or celebrating his/her birthday. Not to mention it would be a complete lifestyle change for myself, because Witnesses have TONS of stipulations they live by. I don't know if I want to do this because I'm not sure I share the same beliefs as them. Someone plese help with advice?!

Do you not know that the 144,000 are Jewish bond servants who will help Jesus Christ in His second coming

Revelation 7
1And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

2And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

3Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

4And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

5Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.

I am a Christian I will start of by saying. And so I can understand why we don't celebrate Halloween. But your thoughts on Christmas? I do hear some Christians say its Pagan this and that. But I have to say Christmas is a time when families get together and show how much they care and love each for each other is that so bad? I dunno I as a Christian would have to say I draw the line on this matter and it is probably more a matter of conviction do you agree? I'll probaly get torn down by some Christians but this is just my opinion. You r thoughts?

I already asked this in C&G, but I wanted to post it here too because I like this section:-) Also because the LGBT community is the unfortunate target of their hateful actions.

Phelps and his church have a right to believe as they wish. They have a right to protest and try to spread their message if they want - it's protected under free speech. But does free speech really encompass their picketing of funerals?

They have plenty of other platforms, and no one tries to silence them. They make fools of themselves quite well on their own without the courts taking away their right to free speech. But when they do it at funerals, it crosses a line. What about the rights of the family? What about the poor mother who is mourning her son or daughter?

Free speech is the ability to speak without censorship. Is it really censoring them to say they can't picket funerals?

I ask because some say the $11million verdict against them will be thrown out under free speech.

If you lose your knowledge of evil and still know good, then why do you say you can't know good without knowing evil?

Is this question worthy of a violation notice? How about if I ask atheist to demonstrate they know basic knowledge?

Obviously those both must be very evil questions because I keep getting my questions deleted. So what is wrong atheist, are you just running from something that scares you? Why would any atheist report either of those questions?

I don't think I will post any more logic puzzles, most have already shown that logic is not an atheist strong point. I know they pride themselves on their logic, and I'm sure that is why I am getting notices...but that was kind of my point...so you are just kind of helping me out. Just because you realize you aren't the most logical person in the world, doesn't mean you have to also act childish.

Isn't this the kind of behavior that atheist hate? Running and dodging questions, reporting people when they get questioned? Hurling insults instead of answers?

i've found that there are many fundamentalist christians who get offended at the idea that humans are animals. why is this? aside from higher brain functions which is evident throughout the rest of the animal kingdom, i.e. chimps have higher brain functions than dogs, are we any less an animal than any other animal?

The Bible promises us, that if you look for God you will find him:

Matthew 7:Ask, Seek, Knock
7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

No matter who we are, we are all sinful, even Chrisitans, none of us are perfect. Nothing we could ever do could earn us right standing with God.

John 3: 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

God does not want to condemn or judge you, he wants to be your friend, he wants you to know the immense love he has for you. So since we could not pay the price for our wrongdoing, he paid it for us by sacrificing his own s

I am not religious in anyway, I don't know if there is a god. ( I don't want any pushing here of beliefs and please do not bash any religion other than your own here also)

back in 1992 my friend asked me to go with her. I enjoyed it very well. I was consumed with inner peace that night. With all the families being there and singing. Hand shaking that everyone was doing. I was moved to tears.

I would like to go again. Is there a specific church that I guess you could say agnostics could walk into? Also I am married and I know my family is not interested in going. Sorry to sound ignorant but I know nothing of religion.

Thanks in advance.

When you read the bible, do you care about who wrote what, or just think it's all the same? I've realized that people who haven't read the bible all the way through claim it is consistent throughout, even though it teaches many differing views because it has works in it by people who disagreed theologically.

No one can say that Paul and James were of the same mindset when it comes to works and faith. Paul said works are meaningless as faith is all that matters, James said faith without works is dead. They never agreed on this, but both are in the bible trumpeted as "the word of God." Why would God disagree with himself?

Perhaps he didn't. Perhaps the books that were voted into the Christian bible were just that, books that were voted into the Christian bible, and not divinely consistent works that mystically assembled themselves.
