I have been told that the reason there are problems in the world is because god gave us free will. This apparently opened the door to all kinds of evils, and allowed people to be deceived by satan. However, that does not explain natural disasters. No matter what choices I make in life, I cannot cause a tsunami, a hurricane, or a tornado.

I have had a good life and I'm still young. It looks as if it's going to get better, too.

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to go back and do the old days all over again, as they were good to me. How about you?

This is OLD news that I just found out about. My wedding was 5 years ago. I visited on the phone with a cousin I haven't talked to in ages, who attended my wedding. She brought up our wedding, and told me something that had ticked her off. She said my husbands family was going around telling my family and friends things like, "She's a lucky girl!" (implying I don't deserve him?) and "He's quite a catch." (again...) and "You know, he WAS the most sought after bachelor in town." or "You know he is quite established." Wtf? Am I being overly sensitive here? Keep in mind, MY family was saying things like, "Don't they make a nice couple?" or "We love him like he is our own." or "He's so good with her kids." WHY did they feel the need to make sure my family knew I was getting a good deal? It just doesn't seem like proper etiquette to me. My cousin said it wasn't just what they said, it was the way they said it. It was as if they were implying he was too good for me or something. As if!

i caught this show about the story of david and goliath on one of the bazillion christian channels on cable. now, is it me, or is there more to this story than just overcoming adversity? what seemed evident in this show was that they pointed out how the bible made sure to mention that david did indeed believe in god, or at least the right god, and that goliath didn't. is this really what's taught in the bible? if it is, doesn't this somewhat equate to promoting a slaying of the non-believers?

An old woman went to visit her daughter and she found her naked, waiting for her husband. The mother asks the daughter: "What are you doing naked?" The daughter responds: "This is the dress of love." When the mother returns home, she strips naked and waits for her husband. When her husband arrives, he asks her: "What are you doing naked, woman?" She responds: "This is the dress of love." And he said to her, "Well, go iron it first."

If anyone can help me with any of these, that would be great.

1. Like Judaism and Christianity, Islam is a religion based on revelation. In the Muslim view, the revelations in the Koran were sent to correct all previous revelations. Using the introductory material in our text (or an outside source if you prefer), discuss the meaning of this statement: Islam is a religion based on revelation.

2. Were you surprised to find so many familiar names in the Koran--names such as "Joseph," Zacharias," "Mary," "Abraham," "Moses," and so on? From your reading of the selections from the Koran, how do you think the followers of Islam regard these people many of us know from the Bible?

3. Who is "the Merciful"? Discuss what his main attributes seem to be, according to the short readings we are studying.

7. What is the Koranic attitude toward women as revealed in Suras 4 ("Women"), 12, ("Joseph"), and 19 "Mary")? Add your own comments to your response

I have seen many times on here that the catholics are accused of worshipping false idols because they have statues and pictures of Jesus, Mary and saints in their churches.

I just asked the question "Do protestant churches have stained glass windows? What do they depict?"

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvtV37LFkEo_kspOkXXk0dTd7BR.;_ylv=3?qid=20071029141956AATfmOv

Most of the answers were yes, they depict saints, biblical scenes etc.

Can someone explain to me what the is difference please?

How would you respond to this?

The Bible is a great book and will teach great life lessons. Even if people think it is just a book full of made up stories, so long as it will teach people to be compassionate and loving (which it does) then why is there so much interest by some non-believers to discredit it or speak out against it?

If it is helping people overcome sadness and have hope then why not encourage people to believe the bible rather than speak out against it?

and so omnipotent why would He allow such sin and evil to exist in the world? Why permit his creations to go to hell? Or why not just end all the suffering? You opinions please.

Since the service of love can alone be acceptable to God, the allegience of His creatures must rest upon a conviction of His justice and benevolence. Humans being unprepared to comprehend the nature of consequences of sin, could not then have seen the justice and mercy of God in the destruction of satan and all things evil. Satan was cast out of Heaven. Had he been immediately blotted from existence. (as God could have easily done) humans would have served God from fear rather than from love. Even if God had destroyed satan the influence of the deciever would not have been fully destroyed, nor would the spirit of rebellion have been utterly eradicated. God permits evil and sin as He permitted satan to carry forward his work until the spirit of disaffection ripened into active revolt . That all may see..

Where can I begin? My father has medicare. He falls constantly at night time (between 11pm and 8am) attempting to use the restroom. He has mild dementia, and knows how to take off his alarm (it clips on and off). How do I go about finding an adult sitter for him in the evening or if it is covered by medicare. He is currently in a rehab / LTC facility.

In daily life, when you get "owned" by somebody, do you have the stones to admit that you were wrong, take notes, accept it as a learning experience, and incorporate the lesson into your life so as to avoid similar mistakes in the future? Or do you take it personally and refuse to back down, and keep defending your position with increasingly ridiculous arguments, even though you know and everybody knows that you're wrong?

The one is Science, the other is Religion. Can you guess which is which?

I'm 17 years old, devout athiest at a catholic prep school. I'm usually one for seeing through the lies of the church and the motives behind it, but in the introduction part to Christianity: The Greatest Story Ever Told, even I know those facts on other gods relating to Christ were false. Upon 20 minutes of research at my local library, I could easily disprove the majority of that movie.
My question is does anyone know the sources for the research they did...I'm very interested in finding the motive for the film..

My fiance & I went shopping today & when I was trying on some shoes, he bought me a Jeopardy CD for my computer, & took it to the car & returned before I even knew what he was up to. When I got home, he handed the box to me. He knows how much I love Jeopardy, as I watch it nightly. He's so thoughtful. <3
