Where I live, in NSW Australia, blasphemy is actually a crime that you can be legally prosecuted for, and there have been prosecutions in the last 10 years!
Of course, there was a huge public outcry about it, and despite the fact that the people who were arrested did it really to publicise the fact that this stupid law is still on the books, nothing was done to change it.
So here, it is a 'crime' in the sense that it is against the law.
Why? I have NO idea ... I don't believe in taunting people about their faith, but according to the law they can insult MY beliefs with no penalty, but not vice versa. It is actually very inequitable!
Cheers :-)

victimless?do you mean that nobody gets hurt from it?
no.it is not a victimless,or harmless crime.
it hurts people who love jesus,to hear people talk bad about him.and it hurts jesus, because he died for the people who commit this horrible sin.
even though, for whatever reason i cannot fathom, jesus still loves the people who hurt him.they can say mean, mean, evil things.and he still loves them.otherwise,he never would have died for them.

I don't know...there are some religious folks who get pretty bent out of shape about it. If they count as victims, then I confess, I get way too much pleasure out of committing that crime.

Since it's not illegal, it's not actually a crime. But if it were, it'd hurt the leprechauns.

Of course it is, but to hear some tell about it, like making a jack--- of themselves at a friend's house while watching football, you'd think it was the crime of the century.

Makes you wonder why they consider it a sin. Do you suppose it gives God low self-esteem?
