I'm 17 years old, devout athiest at a catholic prep school. I'm usually one for seeing through the lies of the church and the motives behind it, but in the introduction part to Christianity: The Greatest Story Ever Told, even I know those facts on other gods relating to Christ were false. Upon 20 minutes of research at my local library, I could easily disprove the majority of that movie.
My question is does anyone know the sources for the research they did...I'm very interested in finding the motive for the film..

Finally we have a winner.

That movie is full of crap.

People replacing one type of belief in crap with another that is the Zeitgeist affect.

The moral of the story is be skeptical, if you lap that video up the writer probably pitys you.

It was an interesting film, but I think a lot of its material was very questionable. I don't know about the rest of the movie, but part 2 (the stuff on 9/11) came from the movie "Loose Change," which you can also watch online for free. I just want to make it clear that I think the majority of that movie was crap. I'm also an atheist.

Much of it is pretty easy to look up. It isn't like there aren't a hundred books on Egyptian mythology, or astronomy.

The motivation was to point out some rather striking similarities between Jesus and religions that came before. I do agree that they over play the similarities a lot, but they are there.

I'm more interested in hearing how you were able to disprove the majority of the movie after only 20 minutes in the library. Would you mind going over just a few details that are incorrect? Thanks.

Perhaps you need to study a little bit more.
Zeitgeist does not come close to given even a fraction of the whole truth. It is more of a introduction.

The movie wasn't mainly on Christianity- it was simply used as an example to prove that authority makes beliefs to put people in line.

From nothing reliable, that's for sure. All of the books they used as sources (minus the Bible) are books written with an obvious agenda.

And their one "Egyptologist" was a self-taught one, of the 19th century.

If you had just looked up the word 'zeitgeist' in the dictionary, the lightbulb possibly might have lit.

Be very careful of whose propaganda you choose to believe.

Hmm. Origin of the movie "facts"? Probably right here in Y!A/R&S.
