My little brother claims to be a homosexual and even does his homosexual advertising on the myspace. But if he were to apologize to God for his homosexuality and promise not to commit any further crimes of sodomy could he join the glorious ranks of the LDS Priesthood?

To this date he still lives a life of sin and lies but he is my brother so we think that someday he will grow out of the homosexuality.

Would you share with me some of the most controviersial and talked-about passages in the Bible? 1 Corinthians 14:33-34 comes to mind. So does Luke 14:26. I'm really just looking for chapter and verse, but feel free to chime in with comments if you like.

To narrow the field, let's stay in the New Testament. k? Thx!

Because in the ten commandments it says, "Thy shalt not kill.", but humans need to kill to survive or they'd die of starvation(I don't mean other people, I mean we have to kill plants and animals), so doesn't that mean God makes mistakes just like anyone else.

"My thoughts are not your thoughts. My ways are not your ways," say the Lord. "As high as the sky is above the earth, so high are my ways above the ways of men."

How does it apply to the statement that is it a "waste of space" to create an entire universe and inhabit it only with earthlings on this speck of a planet?

How does it apply to the statement that it was "an ineffecient way to create people" by starting with hominids and then evolving them into human beings?

How does it apply to the idea that God was twiddling His thumbs for eons when at some point in eternity, He got the idea for creating the world?

Of course we do. So who are the idiots who think they are in charge of energetically looking for our mistakes and reporting them to Yahoo?

Please guess the age of these energetic idiots?

Please guess the psychological problems of Yahoo Administrators who think they can depend on these energetic idiots to keep Yahoo clean enough to sell our questions to their multitude of sponsors? (Yes, every question you ask is sold to a company that sells something related to your question. (proof: just review your previous questions and you will see who Yahoo sold your particular question to.)

So do you think that He knows of when you are going to sin?

I was confronted with this question a week ago and it really boggled my mind, but come to think of it, He says He knows our every being, every thought and every word before we have even thought or spoken it.... even our actions..

your views?

i remember getting an email a few years back asking people to boycott pepsi because they apparently refused to print "under god" on their cans when they released a patriotic can with the phrase "one nation... indivisible" from the pledge of allegiance. the email alleged that pepsi did not want to offend others who do not believe in god? i'm just curious, if you received a similar email, did you boycott pepsi?

Where they fought over which writings would become the New Testament canon, arbitrarily settling on some texts while excluding others that presented entirely different views of Jesus and what he was about?
So, really, your religion is about trusting these guys ... not Jesus.

if the only mediator between God and man is Jesus? I personally do not think you understand the teaching of the body of Christ if you do not understand this. St. Paul and the Apostles and us even now in the Catholic family and ALL of those validly baptized ARE the body of Christ here on Earth. IT IS CHRIST WHO IS THE MEDIATOR WHO DOES THE WORK THROUGH US. I've just read an answer claiming - again - that abiogenesis is a statistical impossibility - that means some people (mostly christians - I've never seen a buddhist, pagan or wiccan do it) misunderstand science, repeat information which is decades or centuries out of date or just completely made up, and routinely ignore everybody who points it out to them.

Yet it's very rare that other christians call them out. Is it that christians really know less about science? Does the end justify the means?

Oh, and about the probability of abiogenesis: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/abioprob/

(but of course you have to have some scientific background to absorb all of it)

I've chosen to do a study of Cathedrals for my Art project and me and teacher were looking at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles and it cost $189,700,000 to build!! Were do they get this kind of money from? Surely it cost billions to maintain every single place of worship in the world and build new ones and I doubt all of this comes from collection plates and charity events? Why aren't these millions of dollars going to help the poor and hungry, wouldn't helping our fellow man please God more? I know we already do that, but obviously not enough because it's still around and that $189,700,000 could have helped a lot.

Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbacked, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire . . . he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the Lord do sanctify them." 2007-10-17 04:53:53 · 8 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

ok, so i asked this before.

but... why is "god exists" the positive argument? surely the atheiests need to prove that "science is a brute fact" or "the big bang just happened" or, dare i say it "evolution" just as much.

i love all the "it just does" stuff, that sounds like the atheists argument is based on faith, which the atheists really close to the religious people. what's the differnce between taking a leep of faith to believe in god and taking a leap of faith to believe in science.

oh and btw, i'm an atheist if anything, i just think that religious people get a really hard time, and i wonder if other atheists understand that their belief system is just as in need of proof as the religious systems.
