I've chosen to do a study of Cathedrals for my Art project and me and teacher were looking at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles and it cost $189,700,000 to build!! Were do they get this kind of money from? Surely it cost billions to maintain every single place of worship in the world and build new ones and I doubt all of this comes from collection plates and charity events? Why aren't these millions of dollars going to help the poor and hungry, wouldn't helping our fellow man please God more? I know we already do that, but obviously not enough because it's still around and that $189,700,000 could have helped a lot.

True, many churches spend way more money than they need to on their buildings, grounds, etc. The basis for that is good, but the end result is often a waste. The basis is to bring the best before God. Unfortunately, people take that a little too far and reject those who don't have anything better. Not everyone owns a three-piece suit, but many churches practically won't let you in without one, or if they do, all they do is stare at you and make remarks about the way you're dressed or what car you drive. Very sad, but painfully true. They look at their building the same way. "If we don't have a million-dollar building, we are a bad church." seems to be their mentality.

As far as the Catholic church goes, they could not gain this type of wealth from collections, charity, offerings, tithes nor donations. Richest Church in the world, sorry to tell you, but they are involved in the Mafia and they control lots of the money and even some of decisions as to the action of the church through the Pope. Why and how, I do not know.

The churches and cathedrals you speak about are all built from donations and offerings from the parishioners, nothing from the government. We have fund raisers, carnivals, bake sales, raffles, all to raise money for new buildings. Catholic Charities is the biggest charity there is and it feeds, clothes, shelters and provides health care and medicine to millions of people each and everyday.

The fellowship I attend gets ALL of it's money from the donations and gifts of the people. Nowhere else.

And no, the government doesn't contribute to churches. They are completely supported by those who attend them. That's why they are considered "non profit." All the money that is collected in my fellowship goes to support missionaries, the pastor, the power bill, a food bank and to a homeless center, etc.

God bless!

If you are talking Catholics, I don't know. Christians take offerings and tithes from the people who want to give and they buy what they need. Often times it takes years to pay of a building debt.

Well, the amount they disclosed is not the full disclosure. A lot more are in the kitty, and they all come from fools.
A fool and his money soon part ways. One way is to the church.

They get it from Catholic fundraisers that sell beer and gambling.

Also, the Vatican has TONS of money. Mainly from Artifacts it stole and sold from the Jews during their time of trial. Also, the vatican also owns stocks in business, as well as they used to collect money like taxes from people. I am sure they invested that money as well.

I don't want to disclose everything i know about the Vatican's money, you wouldnt belive it if I told you.

But they have BILLIONS they are just SITTING on. I am glad they are just sitting on it, and not using it to spread their false Gospel.

True Bible churches have very little money, they usually spend it all on spreading the Gospel and to the needy.
