Modern plants have evolved from earlier forms over the last 4 billion years. First there were single cell bacteria, then more complex multi celled plants in the ocean, then plants colonized the land some 400 million years ago.

when the earth was young and the atmosphere was composed of noxious gasses, bolts of energy (lightning) caused elements to combine and for different compounds and elements. only protists could live in these conditions. as these bacteria reproduced there were billions of mutations and every once in a while that mutation was beneficial. over time, the environment changed and it could support both protists and bacteria. as the environment continued to change and mutations continued to happen, gradually all 5 kingdoms emerged. (probably in this order- protist, bacteria, fungi, plant, animal).
if this concept is too complex for you then you can hide behind the go to explanation "because god willed it to be so." that works for you chrstians.

Evolution. All species and organisms on this planet are linked by common ancestry. Considering that the sun dumps a huge amount of energy onto the surface of the planet every day, it makes sense that lifeforms would evolve that could use this energy in their metabolic processes (look up photosynthesis).
Hope this helps!
P.S. Acid: Evolution is not a random process. Please read about it before you bash it, for religious reasons or otherwise.

I suggest that you objectively study the current scientific thought on evolution. By objectively, I mean that you keep your faith in your heart but you keep any preconceived notions out of your brain while you review the data, facts and evidence. Once you you've done that, you need to do the same for your preconceived notions and see which fits the evidence best.

Seeds. Next question....
Edit: I'm sorry, that's probably a bit difficult for you to comprehend. Plants were spoken into existence by a magical invisible man who lives forever in space-heaven. It will be exactly 6,143 years ago next Tuesday.

Just the same way as all the other living beings on this planet. Plants, mammals, fishes, fungi, bacteria, archebacteria... All coming from evolution of the same 'first cells' that appeared on the earth.

Why, what are you proposing? "A big invisible man put them there"? Most Christians I know don't even believe that.
And you're the one trying to stump ME with a science question? Sounds like you're the one who's stumped.
If you want to know, go to the library and read up on the biological history of plant life. Or go ask the question in the biology section.
