We view it as a kind act, and are encouraged to do so, but not required. It's a personal choice.

I do not think that the leaders of the church have come out and spoke about this... if I am wrong you can look it up at www.lds.org. But from what I have been told by fellow members and by my own searching. I would have to say that it is a personal matter.
I am an organ donor. And I am a member of The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I do not see any conflict in being both.

I don't think the church has a stance on being an organ donor. I believe that they have mentioned it as being a personal choice. I myself am a registered organ donor and I donate blood/plasma as well.

However, I do know of some LDS members who do not agree with it or are even undecided.

I remember being counseled against it by bishops, youth leaders, and a Patriarch, because it was considered defiling our body in the same way as a tattoo or body piercings...

Of course, that's not technically an LDS doctrine, and the leadership of the church has prudently decided not to comment one way or the other on the matter.

I personally don't feel right about offering my organs up to whomever upon my death, but if a family member needed a kidney or a lung, I would definitely give one.

The church says to make your own decision about it. It's a wonderful thing, and one that can help a lot of people, but it is a personal choice. I am an organ donor, and my hubby goes and gives blood when there is a blood drive. I can't give blood, but I would if I could.

Organ donation is a personal choice. Blood donation drives are actively supported. Church members are the mainstay of the Red Cross for obtaining a consistent and clean supply.

Clearly opposed to it. Check Bruce R. McConkie's _Mormon Doctrine_. Also see what Elder McConkie says about birth control.

Don't mess with a sacred body, it is a gift from your heavenly father. Never mind who might die as a result, just be obedient.

Here's an article from the LDS church's website. Hope that answers the question for you.

I have heard some are pro and some are anti. I think it is a personal choice and the Church doesn't take a stance on that.
