Why did God put that Tree of Knowledge thing in the garden were Adam & Eve were? When he doesn't even want them to eat the fruit from it...

Just currious why when someone straight or bi comes in here and ask a question about being with the opposite sex some people give smart answers like well im gay why this in this section etc... They totally pound the questioner with smart comments about this being the gay section. I just think sometimes people forget that this is the glBt section Bi people are here also....Anyone agree or disagree? Do we even realize the Bi's exist in GLBT?

How many of you Christians have had religious experiences as a child? In other words, when were you saved? Specifically at what age? If you care to share your story. If you are an atheist please refrain from answering. If you are of another religion other than Christianity, please refrain from answering. Thank you for sharing you stories.

I'm feeling all alone out here! Are there any other practicing Alchemists or Hermeticists out there? Anyone familiar with the Summum? My best friend, who was my boyfriend at the time introduced me, and enlightened me, but we are no longer together, and we live hours apart, so it is difficult to keep in touch on these matters regularly. (I don't e-mail too frequently because he has a new girlfriend and I don't want to interfere).
You can either answer, or e-mail. I'd love to have some open discussion with people!

Just wanted to wish all a Happy Coming Out Day! Congrats to all of those brave enough to have come out already, and to those who have yet to do so, I hope that you find the courage within yourself, and find support in those you love!

Does the mere fact that God (allegedly) created Hell not scream of hypocracy? For he must have known (based on his infinite wisdom and power) that some of his creation would reject him and thus be thrown into the "pits of fire". And what about the Christian concept of predestination-where he allegedly has already chosen who goes to heaven and who goes to hell? This is contradictory to the idea that God wants everyone to go to heaven.

Do you struggle with lust, sex, and judgement? I struggle with it daily and wondered if I was the only one, because that is what it feels like. I pray daily for the strength to control it and that helps.

i work at a restaurant and notice that a good percent of the time customers fail to tip me 15% or more. I know i am an excellent waitress for the most part ( i do make mistakes so i understand getting undertipped in those situations) but i'm just curious, are people unfamiliar with the 15% rule, or are they simply greedy and don't think tipping is necessarry? and are you aware that mast servers make between 2-5 dollars an hour depending on the minimum wage where they live, so we really need those tips to pay our bills just like everyone else. one more question. What could your server do that would guarantee them a very generous tip (i'm talkin 20% or more) besides giving away free food, because risking my job wouldnt be worth the nice tip.

I think it's horribly rude when people put on their wedding invitations where they are registered. It's like saying "hey, come to our wedding. But you better bring us gifts!" or even "we dont' think your capable of getting us something decent, so here's what you need to get us!"

I didn't register anywhere and I didn't expect gifts for my wedding. I figured, worst scenario, people would just give us gift cards or money. (which isn't so bad!)

Am I the only one?!

It seems to me there are two options here for dealing with those blasted atheists:

1) Provide them with some evidence, so that they can have a fair chance at believing if they choose to do so

2) Send them all to Hell for not believing without evidence

Now, which do you think a loving God would do?

why must EVERYONE be out their converting everybody?
catholics trying to convert muslims
muslims converting non believers
athiests converting everyone

in my view, religion is a personal experience, so why cant we leave it that way?

my view is religion causes more problems than it helps. we waste our time praying to a nonexistant person hoping they will help the sick instead of getting out their and helping them ourselves plus it creates discrimination and tension between friends, neighbours, family

but back on topic :-P why are humans so insecure?

By proof I mean actual, tangible evidence, supported by sense baring traits--can you see, taste, touch, feel, or smell undeniable, that God does not exist? Scientific, reproducible evidence/data, well validated, is acceptable. Short of that, I will accept a valid, well written "logical" proof that God does not exist. Bare in mind, I want only serious responses. If you are angry or are overly emotional in your responses, please don't respond. Thank you for your time.

A lot of people who believe that the Big Bang never occurred seem to believe that matter and energy had to come from somewhere, but that God can be eternal. I don't exactly understand how this works.

Can someone explain this to me?

Doesn't the belief that matter and energy were created violate the first law of thermodynamics (conservation of matter/energy)? If not, why not?

I realize this question is better suited elsewhere, but I just like R&S better so I'm putting it here. :)

Have any of you taken the GRE? How'd it go? Can you give any advice to a girl preparing to take it?

I'm not at all worried about the analytic/verbal parts, but the last time I took a math class was in high school, seven years ago. Any suggestions of reading material, or maybe even a website with exercises I can do to brush up? Thanks.
