why must EVERYONE be out their converting everybody?
catholics trying to convert muslims
muslims converting non believers
athiests converting everyone
in my view, religion is a personal experience, so why cant we leave it that way?
my view is religion causes more problems than it helps. we waste our time praying to a nonexistant person hoping they will help the sick instead of getting out their and helping them ourselves plus it creates discrimination and tension between friends, neighbours, family
but back on topic :-P why are humans so insecure?

It is based in emotion.
If you listen to all of the religious arguments, they are emotional appeals or threats. They make use of human insecurities to gain and keep converts. If you can make someone feel guilty enough, for example, you can more readily get him to fill the pews and empty his pockets. There's also fear, love, pity, and other emotions that are played on the convert.
Therefore, the indoctrination is an extremely emotional one. One of the tools religion uses is group binding. Humans have a natural tendency to form groups. There is compassion for those in the group and enmity towards those out of the group. Religion uses many tactics to make this group binding very strong.
That's why you can pick nearly any two religions or religious sects and find somewhere sometime when they have warred and killed each other.

As a Christian I can say I have no clue????? I am sometimes so ashamed of the way my fellow brothers and sisters act. We tell everyone that we serve an all knowing all powerful God and that is true, but then we turn and condemn people to hell, we shove Jesus on every non believer and even some believer and then sit back and wander why more people are not coming to Christ......If God wants you, He is all powerful, He will make Himself known to you. Believe it or not the reason I believe has nothing to do with any Church or any human, it was something that took place in my life while alone. Yes, we are suppose to tell others about Jesus, but I feel that it is to be done only when the time is right and God lets us know when that time is. Sad thing is American Christianity is mostly based off of a Song or a Tee Shirt maybe even a bumper sticker or two. When you do meet a real Christian they will not come right out and say so, they will set an example by the way they live.

Anny discussions approximately dogmatic subject concerns could end on the factor the dogma follower is shown that he in common terms beleaves in a dogma and so is excluded from substitute and reality. in common terms a scientiffic way of thinking can convey you the fact. CAN! Dogmatics are constantly incorrect, they worry the fact. in the event that they the place suited they dont choose the dogma. So gentle? to confer with somebody that cant and would not prefer to make certain issues as they're is gentle. To combat an "fool" is exhausting and particularly depressing. If we dont end all esoterics we are able to be lost for particular. If technology and intelligence nevertheless can save us after it extremely is doubtable, however the only hazard.

I believe eternity is real. I believe Jesus is the only Way to God. If I don't tell you this, I don't care whether you make it into eternal life with God. This would be contrary to God's desire that no one perish.
If I think that you or I can save ourselves, I am stealing God's glory. Only God can save. If I think that you or I can destroy ourselves, i am stealing God's glory. Only God can destroy. If I make myself a judge of your actions, I am stealing God's glory. Only God can judge.
All that I know is that I can boldly approach the Throne of Grace because God is faithful and I can boldly proclaim the Gospel because it is the Truth. Jesus has saved us from destruction and offered us eternal life free of charge and will give everyone who desires to know the truth the Spirit and the Word as our guide to go forward in His will.
I am called to speak the truth in love. This is not judgement. It is the purest form of caring because I want everyone to share in the peacable fruit of God's righteouseness. Our "faith" problem centers around the fact that God knows what is best for us. We just don't believe Him. He knows that if we all start following His commandment today, we would have joy unspeakable forever.
The day will come when those who He has sealed forever will be changed. We will become immortal and incorruptible.
How long, oh Lord, how long until this day?

If it was really applied in the same way as it looks on paper, then there would be no problem. The issue doesn't arise from the beliefs themselves, rather from the leaders of those religions and their greed and lust for power. Rules are made to controll the herd, the more complicated the rules, the more the herd needs it's leaders to guide them....for a price. And any good cult leader knows that another measure of controll is to teach that everything different from what you teach is an enemy.

I am amazed that such a question comes up so often. The major religions are completely incompatible, so of course they preach their one "true" faith to everyone to save them from hell and get them to heaven. Us atheists know that these stories are false, and we don't want to live in a world where people's world views are based on bronze age myths.

Because most religions preach that God is there up above punishing the bad and rewarding the good. That there is a hell and a heaven. But actually God is the subtler concept to the matter-energy-time-space continuum. Just as matter merges into energy, the combination merges into time at the speed of light, all of them merge into the subtler space and all of them merge into the next level of subtler concept (actually there are two more levels which the science need to yet discover). which you may call by any name. Call it the ultimate. That ultimate concept is bliss.

I believe it's because people cling to their beliefs, be it in God, Atheism, or the boogerman.
They do not want to be wrong, no one does. Being right is an ego boost.
As well, stating one is right is also an ego boost. Imagine if everyone, God loving and not, did not cling to their beliefs but rather watched them pass in one ear, out the other, and focused on what was important - the current moment.

Because many people need something to hold on to.
Their believe gifs them that. Unfortunately only the humans know religion and yet don't manage to see that no other creature on the planet has no need for a "God".
People are not yet ready to let "Him" go.
It's a way of looking back in time.
