It's easier than you think to start a career as a male fitness model and land in the pages of a fitness magazine.
Many uninhibited and athletic young guys can become male fitness models. The male fitness modeling industry is different from men's fashion modeling. While male fashion modeling is centered around clothing fashion designers, fitness modeling is geared toward supplements and fitness magazines. Male fitness models show of their muscles. Male fashion models show off clothing.
So, breaking into the fitness modeling business - at least on a part-time basis - is much easier than landing a job in men's fashion modeling
Two Ways to Become a Male Fitness Model:
1. Mail unsolicited photos to the editorial offices of fitness magazines and take your chances.
2. Email or mail informal snapshots of yourself to fitness photographers who shoot exclusively for fitness and muscle magazines.
Contacting Fitness Photographers
If you if you catch the eye of a fitness photographer, he will fly you - at his expense - to be photographed in their studio for a large quantity of photos. The fitness photographers either pay you a flat fee at the time of the shoot, or pay you after the photos are sold. With the latter payment option, the fitness photographer will submit the resulting photos to fitness magazines and products who advertise in fitness magazines. If the fitness photographer sells a photo you posed for, the fitness photographer will split the proceeds 50-50 with you.
Need Not Be Perfect Shape
If you are transitioning your body, you can still submit snapshot even if you are X pounds heavier or X pounds lighter. Photographers know that bodybuilders fluctuate in weight before shows and can predict how you will look when he is ready to hire you.
Abs
Always include a face shot when shooting audition photos to submit to a fitness magazine or a fitness photographer, but be sure to include audition photos that focus on your abs.
Concentrate on Body Parts
When you are asked by a fitness photographer to submit a photo that shows your abs, do just that. Photograph that body part. Your face does not need to be in every photo. When you include your face, it makes your abs smaller in the snapshot. Similarly, if he requests photos of your biceps, shoot the biceps. Faces are less important and don't even need to be in the photos when a fitness photographer wants to see a body part. Remember, its well-defined muscles that put male fitness models in these national fitness magazines.

LOL... change your picture... but get a portfolio done by a professional photographer with a couple of different looks then submit our portfolio to various agencies. In the meantime do some freelance work to get some experience, fashion shows, things for schools, publications... you also get free exposure.
