you speak of us being close minded--that is laughable when there are so many christians who oppose people because they are gay or black or muslim-you do it daily and you accuse them of being immoral because they dont follow jesus! well jesus was a good human being and that is all...and so am i and so are others that dont go to church and pretend they do no wrong because they said they believe in the lord you saviour.

@noonehome---do you find it curious that you are mainly the only one offering anything remotely close to an explanation in the compassionate tone of your religion instead of judging me and being hateful yet your good christian friends have yet to give you one thumbs up.intriguing no?

Personally. I don't think they are immoral, but some of them are close minded. They refuse to believe, and don't want me to believe. Believe as you wish, so shall I. :-)
I rather be brainwashed than be close minded, and that is how some Atheists appear to be. Nothingness!!! if you don't see it! it doesn't mean there is nothing.
You didn't ask!! but, my dear you did. If you don't care what we think. Then why ask what we think!
Edit:
There is positive and negative side of everything. On the positive side. You wonder what we think of you. That is good. Wondering what we think of each others is a great step to understanding one another. If you want to believe and know it is the truth, this is the truth from me. I believe you have the right to believe as you wish. I believe I also, have the right to believe as I wish. If we all are the same. The world would be such a boring place. If I am wrong in believing in nothingness as you stated. Then, that is my life, my choice, and if I am wrong! It doesn't effect you at all.
We may live together on this earth, but when we die, we die alone. Whatever after this life. It will be for us yet to see.
I don't know what you do, or think. So, please. Don't scream at me, and don't tell me what I think.
Good God. No matter how much I try to reach you, you think I insulted you. You close your mind to what we believe, and call us brainwashed that is fact. If I insulted you. Sorry. I can't get you to understand my point of view when you refer to what we believe as 'nothingness'.
bottom line
Believe as you wish. I wish you Peace and be happy.

Moral or immoral is based on definitions. Good or bad the same way.
Christians are often not as moral as others however their goals should be to do the right thing and be moral based on the Biblical definitions. The Ten Commandments give us a basis to know what moral is. Found in Exodus 20: you will see they deal with relationships with God and others.
Now Christians all agree that in our own strength we can not keep these laws. That is why Christ came to died to free us from a powerless life and give us strength to change into the people we ourselves want to become.
Morality is for us more then for God. It is the right way to live not for His sake alone but because it will keep us sane, healthy and eternally happy.

Being one raised in a Catholic household, who then decided that all religions are neither wrong nor right, I think I can help.
I think the religious right has decided that they should portray themselves as victims in society, even though they control almost everything in this country.
This victimization complex gives them this feeling that everyone around them is wrong, who disagree with them.
I personally think people who wear their religion on their sleeve are probably mentally weak.
Lets face it, evolution happened, the earth is billion of years old, and if God really wanted everyone to follow a single religion, he would have only made one continent.
I do not think anyone from India is going to hell for being a Hindu, a Muslim etc....
However, religion was created by man to create a structure in society. It is about control. So every religion tells their followers that they are the one true religion.

following a religeon has nothing to do with moral or an immoral person. Many people that sit in the benches every Sunday are immoral people. Religeon and Christianity is merely a guide to moral behavior. Wether people abide by these teachings are their own issue

Because many christians were taught that morality originated from their God. Hence without God, we cannot be truly moral.
Such teaching is flawed of course.
If it was shown that God doesn't exist tomorrow, most christians won't behave immorally.
Also, to be kind and honest because it's the humane and responsible thing to do is, IMHO, a better approach to morality than one based on simply following rules to avoid punishment or in return for some heavenly reward.
Furthermore, a mindset of morality based on fullfilling God's Will can lead deeply religious people doing harm to others, such as bombing abortion clinics.
"Without religion, you'd have good people doing good things and bad people doing bad things. but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion."

Why do you think all Christians think that? Yes there are people who do not serve God who make very "moral" and good decisions and choices I have no problem admiting that. Still we cannot enter the presence of a holy God without one of two things, PERFECTION or a perfect person who went in our place.......attained perfection for us and made a way into the Holy of Holies. that would be Jesus our saviour and Lord.

22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
We DON'T think that you are immoral-God does.

What a silly question. All Christians don't think that way. Please don't characterize us as all being the same. That's very offensive.
I'm Christian and could care less what you choose to do with your life (so long as it is not illegal or infringing on my rights). If you choose not to follow Christianity, that's fine. And it doesn't make you immoral.

I grew up catholic and am non practicing. one of the turn offs was the hypocriscy of people who go to church everyweek then crap on everyone else during the week. it's funny but the more devout people get the more arrogant and superior they are. if there's a heaven letting in people like this I'd rather take my chances with reincarnation.

I don't think that at all. Some people have trouble with their own beliefs and feel that theirs is the only way. Obviously there is no "One" way that is correct. if they convert others to their way it makes them feel like they made the right decision if others follow their lead, if others don't they have to put them down, again to feel better about their own choices. It is simple fear and arrogance. I have enough faith to be happy with myself and need no validation to know what I do is right for me.
