From Desperate Housewives season premier, this apparently caused an uproar in the Phillipines:
The episode showed actress Teri Hatcher, who plays Susan Mayer, asking during a medical consultation to check "those diplomas because I want to make sure that they're not from some med school in the Philippines."

The apology was made a day after chief aide to Philippine President Gloria Arroyo said the line of dialogue appeared to be a "racial slur."

This prompted an apology by the show's producers. Why is this at all "racial" ? Because there are Filipinos in the Phillipines? I see it as questioning the location of origin of the diploma, a 3rd world nation (maybe 2nd by now?), I;m not slamming the Phillipines, they are doing the best they can, but hey, the standards are not what they are in the US, face it. So that's what's being questioed, not RACE. Would anyone complain if the comment targeted the quality of Chinese-made toys? Read the news lately? I think not.....

Right, I get on the bus every day to get home from school at around 12.30 (half noon). And it is like a 25-minute ride home. Well when I get on the bus, I always walk to the back (i get claustrophobic if lots of people are round me.)
Anyway i sit at the back and there was this guy there. He Couldn't stop staring. I turned round and looked round at him a bit. He said, "Do you have the time, please?"
I smiled and said "No, sorry." We kept looking at each other because he kept staring for about 4-5 seconds. Then he eventually said, "Oh..." -staring-, "Okay.." he then smiled.
Now everytime I get on the bus he asks me for the time. He chucked money at me once, I said i didn't want it, but he put it in my coat pocket.
Once he came and sat next to me at the back so i was against the window, then the bus turned round and he fell on me delibrately, i was smudged up against the window and he stayed on me like 10 seconds after the bus had gone right again! It freaks me out..

Some scholars believe that Jesus was actually married, since most Jewish men were at that time (I saw this on the History Channel). This idea also was featured in "The DaVinci Code."

But just focusing on the idea of Jesus being married, why do so many people have a problem with it? Is it the whole concept of Jesus having "relations" that upset people?

Why is it that people go through life with everything falling into to place. I was bullied at school which caused me to have a nervous breakdown and left school with no education, was impetent for 10 years until i meet someone and fell in love, they then cheated on me with another man and went off and married him, my father then died of lung cancer (my best friend) then i went out with someone else and then she left me for someone else, i then suffered another nervous breakdown. Compare that to my friend who has gone through life with nothing bad happening to him he is now married and had has a father who is alive and has never had hes heart broken and has been very succesful in his business?

How do you all feel about some public school districts wanting to rename Halloween and Christmas into Fall and Winter festivals?
I'm an Atheist and feel religion doesn't need to be in schools. However I think this is just a wee bit to politically correct and let the kids have fun who cares what the thing is called.
