Jesus, Muhammad and Buddha.

Let's guage what you think of them by having you form an imaginary quote like;

Jesus said "Peace and love"
or
Buddha said "Buy Wilkinson Sword razors".

Go for it.

These scandals may keep many people from getting saved ! Because they think all Christians are like them (which they're not).

... the lack ofoutlets for sociopaths? In previous centuries, if you had an urge to harm others, you could join the crusades or the inquisition. You could be a mercenary. In the old west, there was a market for Indian scalps to disuade attacks upon villages, so the government paid people to commit acts of horrific brutality. Executions were far more frequent and brutal, so you could be an executioner. There were "socially acceptable" ways of being a bloodthirsy ******. Like the KKK... these idiots could go brutalize people by night and then go sit on the board of Deacons every Sunday without fear of prosecution. Our crime numbers went up when we began criminalizing activities that used to be "acceptable." For instance, 150 years ago, an incident like the My Lai massacre would not have been given mention. It would have been seen as just a part of war. Local law enforcement, too, is now expected to adhere to strict ethical codes, whereas in the last century they could take

The director who cast Diana Ross as Billie Holiday is considering doing a remake of this film to provide audiences with a holistic picture of this amazing woman. (He wants to deal the sensitive matters of her personal life, her being misused and raped by her manager and her issues with bisexuality).

I thought that Diana did a "decent" job with Billie Holiday although they look and sound nothing alike. (Diana was placed in that leading role b/c of her mega-star status in the 70's)
My QUESTION FOR YOU:

1. We all know that Jen won an Oscar for her role as Effie in Dream Girls, but do you think she is ready to take on a COMPLEX character like Billie Holiday.

2. Besides the fact that both women are "thick" they look nothing alike and sound nothing alike. Jenn's style is gospel and Billie's style is more of an eclectic jazz sound. In my view Billie's closest "vocal" match would be Anita Baker, Roberta Flack, India Ire, Eryka Badou or Jill Scott!!

What are your thoughts???

I have heard varying opinions on this one. I have always been told that it's uncouth to tip someone who provides a service if they are the owner of the salon/spa/restaurant/whatever.

I am a Christian (Conservative type), but I haven't been able to grasp on to the Spiritual lately. I seem to have lost that wonderful feeling of God being with me. Our family has been through severe trials lately, and we are just beginning to recover. Can somebody help me to feel close to God again?

DID THE TEN PLAGUES REALLY HAPPEN?
"There is virtually NO historical evidence to support the biblical story of the ten plagues and the Israelite`s escape from slavery in Egypt. Indeed, there is virtually no histrocial evidence that there were ever large numbers of Israelites in Egypt. The biblical description of 600,000 Israelite men women and children leaving Egypt and wandering in the desert under the leadership of Moses - as well as defying such non-devine considerations as how they might have survived in one of the most inhospitable regions on Earth -seems to have escaped the attentions of ancient record-makers altogether."
EQUINOX - THE TEN PLAGUES OF EGYPT.
**Now wait for claims that they had the help of a fictitious `god` and that will prove that religious people will invent anything to uphold the lies in the bible with no absolute and provable facts.
*Were they supposed to have been wandering for 40 years or more? No bible quotes, hard facts only, please!

My five-year-old taught his little brother this term, I assume he picked it up at school.

What level of "appropriate" does it fall under? Is it usually an offensive or negatively racial term?

On my earlier question regarding how faith is useful in your everyday lives, some of you said that you cannot imagine trying to live without faith in God, or that your life would be nothing without your faith.

If you would agree, can you give me some specific examples of how your life would change negatively if you did not have faith in God?

If most of the answerers to this question agree that their lives would be nothing without faith, does this prove the claim made by some atheists that most believers are weak, or need that "crutch" in order to live happily?

I submit my question to everyone respectfully.

Being raised catholic, I was told that I was to pray to Mary the mother of Jesus and to the saints because they had a bank of merits which is why they can intercede for us. But what about the merits of Jesus? Are we not saved through His merits alone? Is there such thing as creature merit?
