They complain because it goes against freedom of speech.

They are followers and feel left out because blacks can say it but the calling a black person a n*gger is terrible. I don't understand why anyone uses the term.

I actually don't know of anyone who complains that they can't use the "n" word. Generally, if they feel that way about it, they go ahead and use it anyway.
The only complaint I've ever had is what I consider to be the double standard of the word. I don't think that anyone can ask to be treated one way, if they treat others a different way. So I don't get why it's socially acceptable for a black person to refer to others that way, but it's one of the worst things a white person can do.
But that complaint isn't that I should get to use the "n" word, it's that I don't think ANYONE should "get to".
