Lee Bollinger of Columbia University invites the president of Iran to speak at the university, and then, as an introduction, goes on a rant calling the man stupid.
Ironically, I think this event did us more harm then good as it epitomized an example of U.S. arrogance, lack of culture, and stupidity itself coming from a university that is supposed to embody the highest degrees of our culture.

According to your belief, a soul, after death either goes to eternal heaven or eternal hell, depending on the deeds it had done in its life time.

The souls going to eternal heaven is fine.

What about the souls that go to eternal hell? Do they have to suffer for ever there itself? Don't they have any more chances? Since its an eternal hell, I doubt the courtesy of your GOD. Then how do you'll claim that your god 'Loves All' or 'Saves All' ?

In our hinduism, the god we believe, gives infinite chances to a soul to repent and correct itself by giving rebirths to it. Once the soul is pure and perfect, it reaches the feet of god. The other souls keep coming back to earth.

Hey

nice simple one here, can anyone break down into layman's terms what Divine Guidance is? Is it really just a greater being suggesting a certain choice/path, etc?

How does it co-exist with the concept of free will? can they co-exist?

Had a few interesting debates with someone recently, so I'm just clearing up a couple of things ;)

know something bad is going to happen to you, or they know your not going to make it in life, they know you won't pull through your tough times?

i feel i experience this alot and i find it very depressing and i find it hard to ignore.

almost like the way people would look at a cancer patient, trying to be strong for him/her, telling them that they'll pull through....but really theres sadness evident in their eyes, because they know deep down the cancer victim won't make it.

i feel people look upon me like this to alot. iam 30 with bpd that ive been battling with for a long time, and i dont want to be looked on in this way, treated as different from everybody.

maybe their just sympathizing with my traumatic life, but it makes me feel weird, unusual and different, different from the rest.

"And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high
God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and
earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave
him tithes of all."
Genesis 14:18-20

Hebrews 7:1-4
Is this God's brother? Is this God's cousin? Is this a completely different God? For these are certainly
divine attributes. According to the Bible in our hands today, Jesus (pbuh) had a beginning (he was
"begotten"), and an end "he gave up the ghost" (Luke 23:46). This mighty being, however, is alleged to
have had neither. It is stated plainly here in the Bible, that he was "made like unto the son of God." Why
do they not worship him then? The church now will allege that Jesus peace be upon him was "begotten"
by God. Tell us what you mean when you say "begotten." What did God Almighty do to "beget" Jesus
(pbuh)? Further, if Jesus (pbuh) was "begotten," but Melchisedec who was "made like unto the Son of
God," was not, then does this not make Jesus (pbuh) a "son of God" but Melchisedec an independent
god with neither offspring nor parents? Is a god with no parents not greater than one who needs parents?
Where is Melchisedec now?
From these verses we get the following picture:
1. Melchizedec is equal to the Son of God
2. Melchizedec's ministry is eternal
3. Melchizedec, unlike Jesus (pbuh), is an independent god, with neither father nor mother.
4. Melchizedec, unlike Jesus (pbuh), was never "born" or "begotten" but was ever present.
5. Melchizedec, unlike Jesus (pbuh), will never die but is eternally without death.
6. Everything but God has a beginning of days. Even air, water, and food have a beginning of days.

Psychology Today had an interesting article called "Ten Politically Incorrect Truths about Human Nature". Number four on the list was "Most Suicide Bombers are Muslim". The article points out two ingredients in Islamic culture, the first being polygyny:

"polygyny increases competitive pressure on men, especially young men of low status. It therefore increases the likelihood that young (muslim) men resort to violent means to gain access to mates."

"The other key ingredient is the promise of 72 virgins waiting in heaven for any martyr in Islam. The prospect of exclusive access to virgins may not be so appealing to anyone who has even one mate on earth, which strict monogamy virtually guarantees. However, the prospect is quite appealing to anyone who faces the bleak reality on earth of being a complete reproductive loser."

I am sick of the whole frigging world fighting over what they think GOD said.

If the dude is so divine why hasn't he slapped down whoever was wrong and just put an end to all this crap?

Since he hasn't .... he doen't exist.

Cause in my opinion, if he DOES exist and is watching all this hes one sick SOB and doesn't deserve to be worshiped by ANYONE.

I refuse to think I am a pawn in some divine game. Yet everyone is sucked into the whole damn religion thing.

Can't even cure illnesses because of someones GOD... THAT is sad.

What if he gave you the way to fix things but you refuse to see it?

previous qs

being a god living eternity?
death a release?

this question, so hell is full of pain and suffering for eternity - how long before you become desencetised.....the pain becoming a constant and the norm....... and you are no longer suffering?

If you have only pain, joy is gone, how do you measure pain what is their to compare it too. After millenims you life here would be forgotton. Your pain would ease as you will forget happiness.

And would this not apply to heaven, would constant joy and happiness over the milleniums become taken for granted & not as joyous as when you first entered the pearly gates....therefore becoming mundain and the norm.

Then would this lead to Purgatory being the best place to go next, neither heaven nor hell, ... but waiting to get to either hell or heaven giving you another release to look forward to. Neither as joyous as heaven or as painful as hell open to more balance.

The height of your joy can only be measure from the depth of your sorrow
