Hey

nice simple one here, can anyone break down into layman's terms what Divine Guidance is? Is it really just a greater being suggesting a certain choice/path, etc?

How does it co-exist with the concept of free will? can they co-exist?

Had a few interesting debates with someone recently, so I'm just clearing up a couple of things ;)

Toodles

Free will is the choice to choose truth or believe a lie.
Those who accept the truth receive the truth and he does guide them in there life. This is not in conflict with free will it is accepting the truth which is one option of free will.

Several years ago, my wife and I wanted to buy a house. We found the one we wanted, we had the 20% down, we were ready, we went to the mortgage company to get the loan, and were turned down flat. We both had good jobs, our credit was not perfect but well above ok, we were to say the least wrecked. for days we argued, faught, cried, prayed. I asked God over and over and over, why, why, why, After all I have done, after all I do, why do you do these things. No answer. After about a week, and the hurt kinda wore off, I was taking a shower, and I heard the Voice of the Lord, as clear as a bell, tell me to do this, and this, for this amount of time. At first I thought ok, I've lost it. But I told my wife anyway. I thought she would throw a book at me, but she didn't. She said, ok lets see. Within a month, we bought a much smaller house. Still three bedrooms and two full baths, but not what we had wanted in the first place. Now this is where
God's Guidence paid off. Three years later, We had our third son. One door after another opened. We needed a larger home, we tried to sale our small home and could not, so we had to rent it, over the next 6 months, we bought and paid cash, for a new 4 bedroom, 2 bath home with everything you can put in one, our one "rental" property went from 1 home to 7 in less than three years, Our oldest son is out of school now making his own life, well set, and we are in the process of adopting a little girl from China. None of this could have been if we had not listened to that "guidence" that God gave me in the shower. His plan is ALWAYS right, if we will just listen.

A guide is a pointer to the right direction. A guide may be a thing or a person. A t-square is a thing that guides the draftsman in drawing his lines straight. A star is a heavenly body that guides mariners especially in ancient times in their navigation unlike today with our gps. An usherrette is a female person who guides the congegation to their proper seats. When God guides us, He does'nt guide us directly like a human person but through the inspiration of His Spirit, through His Word, through his Church, through His Will, through things and persons and many others. Divine Guidance may be in the form of an inspiration, an insight, an opportunity, a blessing. With the help of our conscience, we can discern if the guidance comes from God or the devil.

We are always free to follow God's guidance or not. But we become responsible for the consequences of our choices.

Microsoft vista is loaded in the computer and the instructions were given through help file or a big book was given. What one has to do is just go through it and apply those things and practice it many times to do creative work

sometimes we will do many mistakes and rectify then we usually don't do the same mistake Is it not?

Likewise, there is a book called Bible, in that Divine guidance were given for a successful living. if one go through it and apply that in life accordingly, life will be a success. In this also we do mistakes, but we will be able to proceed with that and do better the next time without fail.

When Gods words are in the heart it will guide throughout our life.

This is called Divine guidance.

Divine guidance is the inner voice. It is present in everyone.

In simple terms, When we r about to do something wrong, the faculty within, which causes inner resistance (by choking around heart region) not to do it could be termed as inner voice.

Persistent ignorance of this faculty disturbs its tuning. Divine has fitted that transmittor in every one, but people out of igorance disturb its tuning.

Well nobody actually does have free will. We are the product of our upbringing, surroundings, teachings, experiences, influences etc. etc.

All these facts preclude you from truly having a free will.

Divine Guidance= not taking responsibility for your life, and leaving your life to 'chance...aka...god'.
